I read the first two and a half books, I think, way back in the day. Then they got so popular and everyone was talking about them so I stepped away for a while and never went back. Maybe I'm waiting for them to get less popular... like that's ever going to happen ;)

I read The Hobbit in high school but never got into it... another one of those books that I probably would have loved if I found it earlier. I think I was reading Redwall instead, hehehe.

Well done! The letters for people with no speaking parts were covered by other characters so it worked out really well. :)

Kazen

Current word: ATHENA
Possible books for each letter (remembering that some overlap):

A(2) - 16
T - 8
H - 19
E - 17
N - 8

Color Bonus 1: Brown text on cover
Possible: 0? 1? (checking now)

Color Bonus 2: Purple in the title
Possible: we have the one we need - this color bonus will disappear even if we stay with this word. So don't worry about it :)

Most needed (if we decide to stick with this word): Brown text on the cover
We could also use: Books with N in the spell out

prag ♻ (janayanation) I really hated LoTR. It's a very popular book, I know, but I just couldn't read it. I think it took me a month to finish the first one and I gave up after that. Maybe I'll give the movies a chance one day? Same with Game of Thrones. There's just so many characters I have no idea what's happening most of the time. I DNFed ASOIAF a while ago, but I'm still hoping I read it sometime and see what the fuss is all about.

The Magic Wheel has been spun for a new word!

Your word is ATHENA!

Bonuses:
• brown - Text on Cover is Color
• purple - Color is in Title

message 2815: by Kazen (last edited Aug 13, 2016 10:10PM) (new)

Kazen Well, hmm.

The word is short, that's good. If we have a lot of books with brown text on the cover we may want to keep it - that purple in title will go away if we wait a few hours to spin. But if brown text is a pain we may just want to spin for a new word and see what we end up with. That new word would have only one two color bonuses, albeit random ones.

We have a book with purple in the title that we can use from the Travel Agent, so no one has to run and speed read The Color Purple or anything like that, no worries! :)

Off to check our reserve books for brown text now...

eta: We have one book that might have brown text, but I'll need to bring it back to the staff room to make sure. So maybe we want to spin for a new word after this one? Unless people have loads of books with brown text on the cover in their TBR ;)

Ella | 367 comments late to the HP discussion... but i know what u all mean. i put off reading the series fr a long time too because people kept raving abt it constantly and i didn't want to pick up such long books after already knowing what would happen (movie) . but like i mentioned before since i didn't have many books and id already read the twilight series umpteen number of times my friend lent me her hp books and told me to read it. and Oh.M.G it was awesome!! the connection u feel with each character, the inner understanding of everything , and so much that the movies couldn't explain or convey. iv read the series only once -partly because i dont own them and party bcz they really are very long but they definitely need to b read. wonderful series.

message 2819: by Kazen (last edited Aug 12, 2016 11:28PM) (new)

Kazen Ella - you don't have to worry about the purple book! We have one in the Travel Agent books we can use, and it will go away soon* because the color reset is happening in a few hours. :)

* After the color reset the next word we get will have one reduced color bonus. If we go for a new word we'll get one color bonus task, completely new and random. If we stay with this word we'll lose the second (purple) task, leaving only the brown text remaining.

Bit of a migraine relapse yesterday and today but I seem to be moving back toward getting better. Got some reading done in the bath today. I live in there now -- dunno why, but my head hurts less half submerged in water. My guy brought me Lime Cucumber Gatorade, and it's great, so... upside? Heh.

It can be any text, yes. However, if it's something like a sticker/add on ("Winner of the Blah Prize!", "Book Club Pick!") it doesn't count.

Took an overnight trip with my wife for a little get away but I am back now. 8-)

No brown text in any of my currently available books, I think that will be a tough one so I would consider a re-spin as soon as we can. I do have an "N" book though which I can read after I finish my current one.

This is a travesty!!!! Pumpkin is amazing! The easy way to do it (though I have no idea if these things are available in where you live) is to get a "spice" cake mix and a (~15 oz) can of pumpkin. Then ignore the instructions on the mix! Instead add the pumpkin and a half cup (4 oz) of water & mix. Bake as listed on box. Might not be vegan due to mix ingredients but eggless usually and -oil +vegetable = a bit more healthful. And a lot more delicious!!
