Ella | 367 comments but shouldn't we have one colour? i thought that every week reduced a colour task (minimum 1 task).

Yeah, maybe...? but also every new spin increases it, so +1-1? Dunno... hopefully Kazen will have an answer soonish. :/

Kazen On my phone, but I have an answer!

We should have two now - I can't check the spreadsheet right now but it's been fixed.

The bonus goes down on the first spin after the new week it looks like, new word or not. So, if I understand things correctly, if we complete this word after 11am Saturday London time (start of week three) and roll for the same word we'll go from two color bonuses to one. If we spin for a new word we'd stay at two, the +1-1 Ray alludes to.

I hope that makes sense! I'll be home in a few hours to hash things out - gotta buy a fridge first, hehe. Ahh, fun Friday nights as an adult! ;)

Eta: Ella, to explain two colors -
Initial word Dragon - one color
Rolled NBRCBOM during week one - two colors
This should have gone down to one color when week two started, but it didn't. No big loss, as lots of books had silver in the text

Rolled Kingdom just now, still week two. NBRCBOM should have been one color, so this new roll should add one for two right now. Which is what we have :)

Clear as mud? ;)

OK so I am going to try and explain this....

We are at 2 tasks because we started the week at 2 tasks, one got taken away so we went down to 1 but then we spun for a new word, which gave us a new task = 1 existing task + 1 new task = 2 colour tasks...

Clear as mud???

Hm. So we can finish the word (with or without bonuses) after the new 'week' starts, and then the color bonus goes to 1... then we can finish it with just the 1 color bonus and spin a new word if we want? Then we'd have 2 again? I'm up for respinning since there'd be a 2/3 chance we'd get a shorter word. :)

By Barbara Kingsolver

Characters- Taylor, Mattie, Lou-Anne, Turtle, Dwayne Ray, Edna, Virgie, Estevan

The beans on the cover are black if that works. And it certainly gives us a "K" 8-)

This was a wonderful book. If you have not read any Barbara KIngsolver I highly recommend her as an author. She creates the most unique characters and this book was so funny, I smiled the whole time I was reading it.

Found a short one to read next so hopefully can get it done this weekend.

Lory | 629 comments I am going to read a book called Shades of Grey Shades of Grey (Dulcie Schwartz, #1) by Clea Simon . It is a Dulcie Schwartz feline mystery from a series. Since we have been discussing cats. This has Grey in the title so works for color.

No idea if it is any good...but sounds fun. I just typed Grey or Gray into my Library search engine and picked out one of the ebooks that looked interesting, lol.

I think you have to be right. I'm going to re-read Fifty Shades of Grey...that will be quick and I'm sure the letters would all be covered if we don't need 'grey'.

I can recommend Gray Mountain if anyone likes a legal thriller.

From the Wheel Rules thread. :)

"Where a colour word is required to be found in the text, alternate spellings due to UK/US English is fine (example, Grey / Gray), but the word found must have the meaning as a colour."

I think the world is conspiring against us reading! I'm watching the Olympics opening ceremony right now, and sports and reading don't mix. But luckily (?) the time zone works out awful for Japan, so most of the live events will be while I'm asleep.

Ray (user2637) (hugpete) | 1521 comments Thinking about Milon Boast prizes. What's looking good to everyone? Here's the whole list:

A) 1 free book from travel agent
B) Lower bonus level by 1 (request from mod)
C) Request re-spin (request from mod)
D) Use a different language title than read for the letter
E) Use last letter of word instead of first
F) Change color of one color task
G) Change task of one color task
H) Use a different cover than the edition read
I) Use a text color in the place of an item on cover
J) Use an item on cover in place of color in title
K) Replace 1 letter with one of your choice
L) Use a book twice in the same word
M) Use a book a different team has read
N) Use a book of less than 100 pages
O) Get all new Color bonuses (request from mod)
P) Spin for a new word without completing the color bonus (request from mod)
Q) Use an author's middle name/initial

I'm wondering exactly what C means. Would our color bonuses NOT go up? I like that idea!

A, L, M, & N would all be good when we get right up to the end of Wheel.

(Of course, if you're into long books we could set them aside and save up, hehe)

I believe the team leaders who are deciding/crafting our wheel words should decide. It does make sense 'to me' to either use these when we need to move on or bank them until the end to squeeze something in that we might otherwise miss.

I'm not sure what's up next, but with us all reading full speed, we probably need to start sharing what we're reading at some point....I'm thinking there probably won't be the option to save for next round...I don't know though.

Sorry to lose another team member...Sam will be missed (
