Rebecca (rebeccaemma) | 85 comments Hey guys... Just needing a little clarification on the book I'm reading for C9 (a book between 7-16 characters).
I'm reading American Sniper.... But just realised that Goodreads includes the descriptor in the title. So it's coming up as "American Sniper: the autobiography of the most lethal sniper in US history".

Don't want to go on with it if it's going to be disqualified!

Rebecca (rebeccaemma) | 85 comments On my phone so can't tag the book, sorry!

message 353: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 1439 comments It's the whole title so it won't work for that task however if you read it we can rearrange for it to fit another task

~~~N~~~ (chocolate-cannibal-bunnies) | 616 comments So I'm 16% into my C3 book, but I'm also at 16% of a book I'm reading with it dually that fits C9 (title is 13 characters).
Rebecca (rebeccaemma) | 85 comments Noa - if you want to take C9 I can re-read Anne of Green Gables to fit B2 which is looking a little lonely with no takers! Otherwise I have another book that can fit c9
Rebecca (rebeccaemma) | 85 comments Thanks Ashley! Sorry about that, silly mistake.
Rebecca (rebeccaemma) | 85 comments I am 25% through American Sniper and it's around 500 pages, so if we can fit it in someone else that would get some nice bonus points :)
kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments I'm almost done with Blood Red Road which can work for A5, F5, C9.
Are the hit tasks done?
If you haven't already started the C9 book, that would be great!
Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut  (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments I should be done with Glass Sword tomorrow. Have about 90 pages left and at 444 pages it should make some nice points as a bonus for F5 or can be used for C9 in a pinch also
Off to bed now as I need to be up for work. I will see where we stand tomorrow before deciding on what to read next
Nite all
kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Good night Nikk! I'll just finish my last book tonight and am off to bed too. sigh Back to work tomorrow for all of us working peepz. May our Monday not be much of a manic!
She's a bit of a comfort read for me. I'd suggest Charmed Life for your first read (personal preference), which I've read at least five times, though that was years ago. If you try her, I would very surprised if you didn't enjoy yourself :)
Great job so far all! Just a few notes to keep us on track...
1. We are currently in 16th place. There is a link to the leader board spreadsheet on Page 1 in message 5.
2. When you mark a book as read please check that you have done the following to make sure they feed into the spreadsheet;
- Start Date
- Read Date
- Added to you WOBBLE shelf
(Don't stress if you forget as we are all human!!)
3. When you claim a co-ordinate to read towards can you also post the book that you plan to read. Makes it easier for the captains to see if anything can be moved around.
Gillian Murrell | 497 comments Why do other teams have so many more members l see Polar Bears have 16 we only have 13?
message 376: by ~~~N~~~ (new)
~~~N~~~ (chocolate-cannibal-bunnies) | 616 comments Does the page count for bonus books matter?

Also, I think Gillian asked this before, but it's my impression that it's better to go after big page counts if you can read all the books required (especially if you dont get a lot of hits), but getting all the task books read is priority, which sometimes means reading smaller books. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong)

message 377: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 1439 comments Gillian wrote: "Why do other teams have so many more members l see Polar Bears have 16 we only have 13?"

Teams were built on average books read not the number. So they would have lots more smaller readers than what we do :)

The number one priority is making sure that everyone has completed one task book for the two weeks. By getting them out of the way now it's done with and we won't have to worry about it!

Bigger books earn more points (both on a miss and the hits). Bonus books read for the hits also get one extra point. Remember that each member can only read one book per hit task.

Points Example
For a hit you get 5 points. If you sink a ship you get a number of points based on the type of ship.

Then for the tasks:

I get a hit task for "xyz"
Kelly reads book Alpha for 400 pages.
Karsyn reads book Beta for 200 pages.
We get 6 points.
Tea reads book Gamma for 500 pages.
We get an additional 6 points (one bonus, 5 for pages).
Up to 8 bonus points total (10 total books), then no more bonus points or page points.

(i.e. 10 books max on hits)

I get a miss task for "xyz"
Kelly reads book Alpha for 400 pages.
Karsyn reads book Beta for 200 pages.
We get 6 points.
No more books can be read for points.

(i.e. 2 books max on misses)

At the moment I'm reading Dolphin Dreams, which covers J1, and Spectacularly Broken, which covers A5. It looks like A5 has an empty spot still, is that right? If not, I can stop reading it and pick it up for a different task later on.

Ashley | 1439 comments Page 1 Message 8.

T1: Task read 1
T2: Task read 2
B1: Bonus 1 etc.

Ie. J1 has a blank T2 which means no-one has claimed it for the second read to complete the task.

I can do a spreadsheet if this is too confusing...I'm just trying to keep it simple since it is only a two week challenge.

When a task/bonus read has been completed I delete it. When a hit/miss is fully completed I delete it.

Is this making sense?
