~~~N~~~ (chocolate-cannibal-bunnies) | 616 comments Epic fantasies are amazing, but you definitely need to be sure you want to get into one before starting.
I haven't read GoT, but I have watched seasons 1-4 each over 3 times. I've been with the show since episode one, season one. Everytime I tell myself to read the books, I'm either too close to a season (rewatching time), in a season, or in mourning for all the characters that have died/fearing for the lives ofy babies who still live.
One
Please make sure that any books that are on your WOBBLE shelf that were started before the official start time are removed :)
Two
You will notice that there is a books read thread for the team. Please post your read books in this thread. If the thread gets too nuts then we will look at using it.
Sorry for the change of mind Gillian - don't worry about reposting it.
Since there seems to be confusion...
Each member needs to read a book for a Primary Task
A Primary Task is one of the 2 books required for both Hits & Misses to call square complete.
What this means is:
--- Each team member must read at least ONE book during Battleship (2 weeks event)
------ This is not 1 book per guess chances (4)
------ This is not 1 book per week
------ This IS ONE book, for any ONE Primary Task during Battleship
--- Team members may not COMPLETE a book for a Bonus spot, if they have not Completed a book for a Primary spot
------ Team members may START books for Bonus spots but may not get the points for those books until they have Completed their Primary spot.
message 318: by Ange (new)
Ange (bentleyrise) | 484 comments Hey everyone just checking in. Im 50% done with my book, Got just under 6 hours of reading left, trust me to pick a 600 pager for our hit task and you all cant start finishing your mystery books for bonuses until Im done. Gonna make a concerted effort to finish today, but it may be tomorrow. Reading WAY more than I usually do :)
kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Noa wrote: "Do we post here and the books read thread?"
We post books read here. We'll use the books read thread when it gets confusing. Sorry for the confusion!
Have a happy Sunday everyone!
message 321: by Ashley (new)
Ashley | 1439 comments Updated to here.
Kathleen we'll have to hold off on getting points for your book as I've used Gillian and Karishma as the "tasks". When you finish a task book we can log F5 too :)
message 322: by Ashley (new)
Ashley | 1439 comments I've finished my "task" and now I'm reading Taken as a bonus for D3
~~~N~~~ (chocolate-cannibal-bunnies) | 616 comments My guess is G2.

I'm taking longer than usual to get my books done, because I was swamped yesterday and barely read at all. Sorry! I'll be done with one of my books today, though. Maybe even both of them.

I was waiting to make sure all the entries were in, and can now announce the winner of the Land team mini challenge was the...

TAPIRS!

Team Points Ranking
Tapir 1400 1
Slender Loris 1305 2
Plumed Basilisk 615 3
Red Panda 600 4

To celebrate their win, I am changing my profile picture to a Tapir for the next week. Well done team!

Now, back to your usual programming... ;)

Ange (bentleyrise) | 484 comments Hey Rebecca the D3 was a submarine so that one has been sunk and as they are not putting the ships directly horizontally or vertically from each other wouldn't E3, D2 and D4 definitely be misses? Is that right Ashley?

Can I please have F6

Ashley | 1439 comments Rebecca - guess again :)

Nikk's guess is fine as it can be diagonal

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments Yeah as per usual I posted then read the rest of the comments so went back and edited my original choice :-p

message 337: by Elspeth (new)

Elspeth | 101 comments I'll guess C7 :)

message 338: by Viji (new)

Viji | 389 comments My Guess is G5.

I just have a query:

In the Q & A section it was mentioned
"Can ships be oriented diagonally or only vertically and horizontally?
Ships are only vertical and horizontal.

Has this been changed to include 'diagonal'? As I was not sure of this, I guessed to fit the 'horizontal' placement of the hit F5.

I guess further Verticals to this hit could be F4, F3 and F7 and the horizontals could be E5, D5 and I5, J5.

Correct me if I am wrong. Thanks.

message 339: by Ange (new)

Ange (bentleyrise) | 484 comments Viji, I understood the ships were not placed diagonally but only vertical or horizontal. A ship can be placed diagonally next to another ship ie ifA1 is a submarine another ship can be placed at B2

message 340: by Ange (new)

Ange (bentleyrise) | 484 comments Angeline a sub could be hiding anywhere so at this stage anywhere is a good guess

message 341: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 1439 comments Thanks Angeline.

We have people who are working towards those tasks. I'm going to swap your books to

The Naughty List: C-9 - read a book with a title between 7 and 16 characters

Sword of Summer: D-3 - read a book shelved as mystery by at least 10 people (shelved 22 times)

We didn't have your shelf name before so you weren't set up on the spreadsheet - I'll let the mods know it can be done now

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Im going for B9.

Date Read: 19 June 2016
Pages: 552
Task it fits: J-1 - read a book with a title with 6 or less letters
How it fits: "Cinder" = 6 letters

Hopefully, I will make good headway with my C3 book tonight. I spent 2 hours at the beach today, and the walk is 25 minutes down and 45 minutes back (because climbing up the cliff is a lot harder than going down) and I found myself wishing I had an audible book.
