Now and Forever
Fits: Relay

Reading Rising from Dust, but it's pretty disappointing.

Does anyone else have a long weekend? I'm working Saturday, but Monday is a local holiday and I have Tuesday off. So I have a three day break that will (hopefully) have a lot of reading in it.

message 3370: by Ange (new)

Ange (bentleyrise) | 484 comments No three day weekend for me, I only have Sunday off, as from tomorrow I have to work Saturdays to clear backlog of work. Should take about six weeks. I need the money so it's a good thing even though it will def cut into my reading time

BONUS LABOR 36

Athena, ever the champion of heroes, wishes to offer you a boon. But alas, nothing can be given for free. You must complete this task fit for the Goddess of Wisdom. Here's her caveat, it's tricky be warned: the first book must contain, in either title or series name, any of the following words: Truth, First, Dark

Read 5 linked books (i.e. Title Relay).

◈ Read 1st Book
◈ Read 2nd Book
◈ Read 3rd Book
◈ Read 4th Book
◈ Read 5th Book

Points: 60

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments I am nearly done with shadowfever which would work for bonus 35 read a book with a strong female lead

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments If I manage to finish shadowfever earli-ish tomorrow I can attempt to read London is ours which is set in England as it's quite short so should be a quickish read

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Completed Bonus 35 with unused finished books. :D

We have 1 freebie left. I was thinking use it to re-get bonus (#2) and remove one of this blasted relays.

Gillian Murrell | 497 comments The countdown clock is not working so its making it very hard to say if I can get another book in as it Saturday today I don't get a lot of reading time on the weekends :(

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments Kathleen, I am borrowing the next 3 books in the series from the library today but I doubt I will get to read them straight away, Actually the Dewey readathon is on the 22/10 and I have already organised a child free weekend so I can get some reading done. Will you be back by the 22nd. Perhaps we can look at doing it then

message 3389: by Kimberly (last edited Oct 07, 2016 03:27PM) (new)

Kimberly (poweki) | 1713 comments It looks like the set in England goal is not available.

I think: You Had Me At Hello can be used for the Message in Title goal as well.

Have a look at the cover and see if you agree. There's a "message": What happens when the one that got away comes back? or even "You had me at hello" is a message?

You Had Me At Hello by Mhairi McFarlane

I'm not sure if I am getting the intent of the goal right.

The characters also exchange text messages, emails, letters (for a different goal).

Am good anytime Nikk! I won't be back til the 25th (I think WOBBLE will be finished by then too)... Am not in a rush :D

I can't believe WOBBLE's going to end soon! I hope there's stable internet connection where we're going because this is the last event and I don't really want to miss out!

Oh man... This is another one of those super confusing ones...

The only thing I **think** I've worked out is that we want to be reading the first 3 books in series. Is that right?

If so, will it matter if we have previously read the first book and just read books 2&3 for the middle range of points? Or will it only count if book # 1 in the series in completed during this event?

message 3394: by kat (wanderfulbooks) (last edited Oct 07, 2016 04:20PM) (new)

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Q: Does it always have to be 1, 2 & 3 in a series or could it also be later books 5, 6 &7 (I guess they have to follow each other)?

A: It must be 1,2,3. but saving the 5,6,7 for a higher level weapon is good since it's usually harder to find higher series books.

*For example, we want to level up our weapon to Level 5.
We need to read books 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 in a series.
SO IF...
I read book 1 from a series...
Nikk reads a book that is book 2 in a series...
Kimberly reads books that are 3rd and 4th in a series...
Ashley reads a book that is 5th in a series...

So now, we have completed the requirements and made our weapon Level 5.

*For example, I read a book that is 10th in a series, we can bank it temporarily and save it to be used when we work on leveling up our weapon to Level 10 or more.

AH! :) So they don't have to be in the SAME series. Just in A series.

I feel better.

Kimberly (poweki) | 1713 comments I'm going to make a temporary shelf of books I have at hand that are in various series - let me know if you want a link to it.

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Kimberly wrote: "I'm going to make a temporary shelf of books I have at hand that are in various series - let me know if you want a link to it."

Haha I'm doing the same! Yes do link us up! And maybe we'll put it all in a tab in the planning spreadsheet.

message 3399: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (poweki) | 1713 comments I have another question - I promise my last one for now as I need to work on my paper AND finish my book (I have 2.5 hours left of it - so it'll be no problem).

If I read a LONG book in a series - will it count for extra points?

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Page counts are not important. It's the series # that counts. So if we read any books that is in a series, we'll probably use/save it to level up our weapon.

In the quests, maybe a specific task about page numbers will pop out from time to time.
