Łukasz Brzezowski | 26 comments Hi,

Please remove completely these books I've created in a wrong place and could not move them appropriately.

lethe | 16372 comments Are those ISBNs all fake, including this one: 9788328102116 ?

message 3: by Łukasz (new)

Łukasz Brzezowski | 26 comments Yes I've changed the ISBN to random one to be able to create proper edition somewhere else with the same number

Krazykiwi | 1767 comments It would be a lot simpler and leave a better audit trail if you simply corrected the bad entries (or if you are not a librarian, provide the info so we can do it.)

Removing valid ISBN's to substitute fake ones is certainly against the GR policies.

To be fair, Łukasz didn't remove valid ISBNs, just added fake ones to the editions he added in order to get them to save.

Łukasz, *please* don't do this sort of thing in future, because

1. there was nothing wrong with the editions already in the system
2. and if there was, editing existing editions is a lot less work than having to separate and merge the duplicate editions and then recombine* again.

*which, by the way, I have not done yet, because I don't remember with which titles they were combined. The only "intégrale tomes" I can find are of Ric Hochet, and the Hans/Yans #1, 2 and 3 are single issues (so having added Yans #1, 2, and 3 to the collections you added was unnecessary and confusing).

(edited for clarity)

Or did you add both the original and the duplicate editions? The editions have been merged now, so it's unclear.

Łukasz Brzezowski | 26 comments Hi,

The thing was:
I've created three new books (listed above) as I couldn't find that their other editions already exist.

Once I found out that they do I've tried to edit them to combine them but I could not - it didn't worked and I've changed their ISBN's to free up the proper ISBN's in order to create a proper editions where they should be and after seeing that I'm not able to remove the created ones (last time I've checked I had such a right to do so) I've asked you to clean it up.

That's all - I wanted to make it tidy that's all.

Thanks,
Lukasz

lethe | 16372 comments Okay, but with which titles should they be combined?

I had to separate them to merge the duplicate editions, but I don't know with which titles to recombine.

Krazykiwi | 1767 comments Hi Lukasz,

It's important to know that you should never remove correct ISBN's, even if the books are in the wrong place.

In future, if you add a book incorrectly, it's better if you don't try to fix it, just post the correct information and it will get fixed. We could have fixed the editions so they could be combined.

It's actually not tidier to do what you did, it's much easier to follow the librarian logs if it's done properly than with merges and multiple editions.

Main thing is it's all fixed now though. Oops, thought lethe was already done with these.

lethe | 16372 comments Found the other editions. They had a different primary author, that is why they disappeared from the combine page when I had separated the Polish editions. (I thought I had gone crazy!)

ETA Combined with the L'Intégrale editions and they are now part of the series: https://www.goodreads.com/series/9625... (and I'll let others fight over who should be the actual primary author*)

ETA2 *and since not all editions have been added with the same primary author, that is rather important.

(And now I'm done with Hans.)
