Nanci | 1864 comments Hi Nicole, Drishti, and Stephanie!

Looks like we're a team for BINGO. Have any of you done this before? I'm unclear as to whether we just try to get BINGO and then submit, or complete all the squares.

I am currently reading Troublemaker Surviving Hollywood and Scientology by Leah Remini which can be used for the one person square and also An Invisible Thread The True Story of an 11-Year-Old Panhandler, a Busy Sales Executive, and an Unlikely Meeting with Destiny by Laura Schroff which works for the two people square.

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 48 comments Hello!! I have not yet played but I'm sure we'll figure it out as we go along.

I've got The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater if we're happy to accept Horse on the cover as a Farm Animal?

Otherwise I also have a couple that could count as one person covers and that's about it right now.

Hello, Nicole!
Absolutely! A horse is a farm animal. :)

Drishti (drishti_ohri) | 113 comments Hi guys! :)

I have never done such a challenge before. But I think we need to get "BINGO" by reading books for five squares horizontally, vertically, or diagonally to create a line.

I'll get back to you guys on which squares I can cover. Just lemme check my TBR first...

BTW I think we can use this spreadsheet to make things easier: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

You complete all the squares as a team. How you go about it is up to you. Once you have completed the whole card you can post a bingo button to show off and/or start a new BINGO card (we will be progressively posting new ones) or do the same card again, or join a different team, or go ahead and do one on your own... totally up to you :)

message 8: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments That's what I figured. Thanks for clarifying, Mod!

Drishti (drishti_ohri) | 113 comments I can do these:

» Bird - Die Nachtigall by Kristin Hannah

» Clock - Por Lugares Incríveis by Jennifer Niven

» Tree - The City of Wizards by George Mazurek

» Road - Ko dih postane zrak by Paul Kalanithi (Currently reading it)

P. S. Anyone thought of any team names?

message 10: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments That would be great, Drishti!
I haven't any idea on team name. Anyone else?

message 11: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Ann Hollow City Child/teenager

I'm about to finish up another book, and will start this one next. Also not sure on a team name.

message 12: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Welcome Jennifer! So glad you're on our team.

Team, Jennifer is my Battleship opponent. :)

message 13: by Drishti (new)

Drishti (drishti_ohri) | 113 comments Hi Jennifer! Glad to have you join us! :)

Hey everyone, I thought of some team names. (A heads-up, I actually suck at thinking of team names, but I wanted to do my bit...) My suggestions: Fictionaries, Reading Divas, Read-a-nistas and Shadows of the Library. So what do you guys think?
Anyone else have any suggestions?

message 14: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments What do you mean, you suck? Those are all great names! I especially like Shadows of the library, but will go with whatever is most popular. If we want to try more we could see what we all have in common. Jennifer and I both had careers as teachers and love horses.

This link isn't working for me. Can you maybe try to post it again, or point me in the direction of the original?

message 17: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer E | 172 comments Hey everyone!!! I think its hilarious that the first book you chose was about horses BC I have a horse farm. I love my BIG dogs!!! Lol
I look forward to getting to know everyone!
So, we are looking at our bingo card and getting ideas on which ones we can do and also decide on a name for our group?

message 18: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments I have also seen where teams have taken the bingo card and been able to X out the squares as they are completed. Anyone know how to do that?

message 19: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer E | 172 comments Marley and Me and a wonderful book abt a domestic dog. If there is anyone with fur babies I HIGHLY recommend it. If there is no one that wants to take domestic dog, I'll re-read Marley and Me.
The rest of them I don't understand. Do those words have to be in the title or just be in the book somewhere?

message 20: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Here's a list of readers and squares so far:

Drishti-bird, clock, tree, road
Nicole-farm animal
Stephanie-child/teen
Nanci-one person, two people

message 21: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer E | 172 comments Drishti, if you would rather read something else other than the tree, I'm ready Sycamore Row by John Grisholm

message 22: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer E | 172 comments For the Bird, I have the poem The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe. I looked and it didn't have any rules abt length or re reads. Ok, that's my last email for awhile. LOL

The way it works is that the word on the square must be featured as a picture on the cover. I don't think a word works. So, if the BINGO word is "dog" and the title is, "My dog, Rover", but there's no picture of a dog on the cover that wouldn't work. If this is wrong, please correct me, team.

Yes, Jennifer. That's right. I think I saw horses on someone else's profile also, so that would make three of us who own or love horses. :) Anybody else??

I have no idea what problem you are facing with the link because it is working for me. Anyway, you can find the original link in this thread: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Just an FYI: The link is just a template of the spreadsheet. We'll need to create the actual spreadsheet ourselves.

message 26: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Thanks, Drishti!
This spreadsheet you should be able to edit, team. I added my book. Feel free to add your own. :)

Actually, the book I'm reading for tree is an ARC which I need to review by June 9. So I just thought that if it could work for this challenge, then why not.

Awesome, Nanci!
I added my books for clock and road. I didn't add the ones for bird and tree. Jennifer said that she, too, could read books for those.

I already put down my name for bird. I need that book for another challenge as well so... if you could find a book for something else?

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 48 comments I have a white space suit on one of mine... but I suppose it's a stretch to say that's a dress.

What if I had antlers? Do you reckon that that's enough of a deer/buck to be counted as African Animal?

Wait. Is the deer wearing the white space suit?! Lol! I couldn't resist that visual! On a more serious note, if it's just antlers I don't think that will work. Post the cover and we can decide.

Congratulations on finishing your first year of teaching, Stephanie. I still remember my first year, even though it was a really long time ago! I will add your book to the Bingo card.

We could be "teacher shadows in the library" if we all taught. If not, I say we just go with Shadows of the Library.

message 48: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Hi Jennifer,
Were you able to see anything at all? If so, you need to click on the tab that says, "bingo 1", then you'll see the list of items and be able to sign up. If you still can't get it to work, just post here and one of us will enter your book for you.

message 49: by Nanci (new)
