I'm about 200 pages in. It's almost time for the Olympics to start and crazy things are happening in Rio and the Police and Private are trying to take care of things and keeping it hush hush. It's quite good. I enjoyed the one about the London games also.

I also knocked off another story in The Complete Sherlock Holmes, The Adventure of the Beryl Coronet.

This is a great book/story. It pulled at all of my emotions and I still think of the character now and then and it's been at least 2 or 3 yrs since I finished this book. It will stay with you.

My mom loved Erma Bombeck. She got her start writing for one of the 2 papers that used to be in Dayton, Ohio, when I was growing up. I forget which one. Anyway, she wrote a column called "Our Girl in Centerville". They were always funny or would tug at your heart. Mom still has all her books and I remember reading them back in the day.

message 171: by Gary (new)

Gary Sundell | 2274 comments I often wonder what she would have had to write about social media, reality TV (which is far from real in most cases), and other things that have developed since her death.

Deborah Taylor-French | 8 comments I am reading a book not found in GoodReads database, written by a poet and frequent traveler to Greece. I love this book based on the seasonal Greek table.

The book is in the database . Honey, Olives, Octopus: Adventures at the Greek Table

If you ever need to add a book youcan add the book to the GoodReads database by doing a search on the title or author's name. When the search page comes up if you look over to the right you will see in small green print "Manually add a book".

message 186: by Deborah (new)

Deborah Taylor-French | 8 comments Thanks Karen, I thought I would get around to seeng if I could add a book. I looked under the author's name. Did you find it under the title, which I needed to do,

message 187: by Lacey (new)

Lacey (she2beautiful) | 13659 comments I just finished reading Autumn Thorns (Whisper Hollow, #1) by Yasmine Galenorn by Yasmine Galenorn and while I enjoyed the first half of the book the second half was a bit too packed full of information for my taste. The author just kept throwing more and more plot twists into the mix, that I could barely keep things straight. I ended up skimming over the last 40-50 pages just to see who the murderer was before putting the book down. In the end, it was a bit of a disappointment for me.

Loved that one when I was a kid!

Kirsten (kmcripn) Just finished reading Under the Net by Iris Murdoch Under the Net by Iris Murdoch. Not quite sure why I like Murdoch so much. It's not the plot or characters, so it must just be her writing.

Carla (carla1957) I finished The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead . Tough subject matter, but the story of Cora was well written and quick to read. My review is here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
