SOLVED. MG Boy gets lost in Okefenokee swamp during storm [s]

I remember reading this when I was maybe 10-12 years old. A young man lives on the edge of the Okefenokee and (if I recall correctly) was going camping out in the swamp for some reason. Anyway, while he is out there fishing or doing whatever he was doing, a monster storm blows up and completely disorients him and he realizes he's lost. Shortly thereafter, he discovers a young Native American boy who lives in the swamp alone with his grandmother (again, I THINK that's who she is, I don't rightly remember). The two boys bond and eventually, with his new friend's help, he finds his way out of the swamp and back home. I remember him looking back as he's heading toward the sounds of the search party to see his friend waving good bye to him, and him worrying about his fate once his grandmother passes away.

I've investigated Tree Castle Island, but it's not what I was looking for.
