Waiting for WOBBLE Read-a-Thon ~ DAY 2
date
newest »

1: What book(s) have you started and/or finished for the RaT, and what do you think of them so far?
I started Written in Fire & Beneath the Waves last night. Written in Fire started off with a bang and is as enjoyable as the last one (so far). Beneath SUCKS and will likely be a DNF for me at 10%. I'm going to TRY to read a bit more (up to the 10%) but I knew on the first page I wouldn't like it and my instincts are rarely wrong about books. I know right away if I will like something or not, and I don't with that one!
2: Will WOBBLE be your first team challenge, if not how many have you done before? What have been your favorites?
This will be my 7th Team Challenge at NBRC, and I've done 2 at another group. I've done multiple Tower Teams & Wheel-a-Thons, as well as Battleship and UnCover It. My favorite was the first Wheel-a-Thon because my team was AWESOME. We chatted the most of everyone but also read the most and won it. (Yay Astronomers!) We were a great team and had tons and tons of fun! :)
3: What are your hobbies outside of reading?
Video Games. I built my own Gaming PC last year named Widget (after the character from The Night Circus) and he is FANTASTIC!! He plays games better than our PS3 and probably better than a PS4 (if we had one). I'm a puzzle adventure player (Portal, Talos Principle) but love most adventure (Batman, Resident Evil (4), GTA, Skyrim) and much more. I use Widget for day to day stuff too (like now) which is good otherwise he'd be so ignored during Wobble.
4: Tell us FOUR more fun random facts about you!
~ I built a Gaming PC in Feb 2015. :) Ok, that's a bit of a cheater, so more info on that. I started researching PCs in November of 2014 and soon became obsessed. I know a little of computers but hadn't tinkered on that scale before. I read everything I needed to know about building one for MONTHS. I was obsessed and loved it, and then when we got tax money in, my Hubby bought me all the parts. I put it together so easily and turning it on for the first time was such joy. Consoles are generic, everyone has it. Widget came from MY hands and works because I pieced him together. I adore him!
~ I LOVE Theme Parks and Amusement Parks. Naming a favorite ride/coaster is much harder than a book. There's so much to consider. When asked, I have to fall back to giving my favorite attraction by park, especially when it comes to WDW (MK: Splash; Epcot: none now, Test Track if I HAD to pick, Horizons formerly; MGM: Tower (it'll always be MGM to me); AK: Dinosaur). Or by types of coaster when it comes to coasters, though if I HAVE to pick one, it'd be Desperado in Primm NV outside of Vegas.
~ Vegas is my favorite place in the world. If we had money, we'd definitely move out there. It's been over 9 years since I last went (our honeymoon in '07) so I miss it so much. I've been there 7 times total and I wish we could afford to go back someday.
~ I LOVE playing with my Photoshop. I love tinkering with images and I used to do a ton of digital scrapbooking. I haven't had anything to take photos of for years so my Photoshop sat untouched. I love that with NBRC I've been able to dust it off again and play around with all kinds of images/graphics (I've done everything for Wobble). It's so much fun and I can waste hours on Photoshop.

I started Stars Above and made it to page 121. The first three short stories were really good. I think the first one, you sort of knew the story already from reading the other books, but there was a little more detail. The next two were better. It was interesting to see the back stories to some of the characters.
I also made it through a bit more of Tell the Wolves I'm Home. I am enjoying this one more now that I'm in the second half of the book and some of my questions are starting to be answered. I wasn't loving in the beginning, but I'm really engaged in the story now.
2: Will WOBBLE be your first team challenge, if not how many have you done before? What have been your favorites?
No, I have done tower teams before and a few other group challenges, some in other groups as well. I'm currently playing UNO. I'm not sure which is my favorite.
3: What are your hobbies outside of reading?
I used to love volleyball, but hurt my ankle several months ago and can't play anymore. I enjoy watching movies, even though I don't watch any TV. I like yoga and swimming. I enjoy puzzles though I never seem to have time to do them. I enjoy kayaking, white water rafting, zip lining, and most outdoor adventures. I think one of my favorites is river kayaking. It is so fun.
4: Tell us FOUR more fun random facts about you!
1. I have a cat and a dog. I recently realized that I have far too many pictures of them on my phone, particularly of them sleeping in strange positions, which I find really funny for some reason.
2. I went to see Olympic volleyball when the Olympics were held in London. It was a lot of fun. I hope to some day see Olympic gymnastics and ice skating too.
3. My degree is in psychological services. My most recent job was working with children that have been removed from their homes for various reasons. I did individual, group, and family therapy with them in an effort to help them either reunite with their families or to move on to a new placement or adoption. It can be a really stressful career, but I really enjoy it.
4. I just moved to Virginia last fall. My husband and I grew tired of the winters in Massachusetts and basically just moved a bit south for milder seasons. We both really dislike the cold and the amount of snow we had been getting was overwhelming.

My husband and I went to Vegas once and loved it. He has to go out there for business next month and I am going to tag along. I can't wait! :) I've only been there that once.

1: What book(s) have you started and/or finished for the RaT, and what do you think of them so far?
Hounded & Yanked
2: Will WOBBLE be your first team challenge, if not how many have you done before? What have been your favorites?
WOBBLE will not be my first team challenge. I've played other team challenges maybe about 5-6. My favorites were Team Towers & Gladiator
3: What are your hobbies outside of reading?
Movies and swimming
4: Tell us FOUR more fun random facts about you!
1. I love eating cereal any time of the day
2. Even though I love warm weather I'm not a sun worshipper.
3. I enjoy word puzzles
4. I hate cooking but love food. LOL

Seriously, I don't even understand why I'm reading this book. Even though I went into it with no expectations at all, I'm still disappointed. (Wait, am I even making sense?)

I'm enjoying this book a lot, even though this book doesn't live up to the standard of the other Rainbow Rowell books I have read. What I like is the real and flawed nature of the characters.
2: Will WOBBLE be your first team challenge, if not how many have you done before? What have been your favorites?
No, WOBBLE certainly isn't my first team challenge. Actuallly, my first one was TT4. If I remember correctly, I have done six others so far, one of them being Around the World challenge in this group. I have liked all, but, not enough to have any favorites. :)
3: What are your hobbies outside of reading?
Surprisingly, I don't have many other hobbies outside of reading. I have tried a lot of things, but, nothing stuck with me (except reading, of course!). But, if I have to name something, I would say chess. I have been playing chess for as long as I can remember. Yes, even as a toddler. Unfortunately, no one I know shares this interest.
4: Tell us FOUR more fun random facts about you!
a. Whenever I'm not reading, I'm watching movies.
b. I want to learn a new language this summer and I have decided that it's gonna be French.
c. I'm a proffesional when it comes to procrastinating. In fact, I'm doing that right now by answering these questions just to put off studying. :p
d. I want to learn how to code. And yes, I am going to turn it into reality. Probably right after I learn French.

1: What book(s) have you started and/or finished for the RaT, and what do you think of them so far?
None yet. Are we supposed to start? I'm currently doing a read to review as of the moment though
2: Will WOBBLE be your first team challenge, if not how many have you done before? What have been your favorites?
Yes! This is the first team challenge I'm joining. Though I have joined buddy reviews, but still. I am excited!

2: Will WOBBLE be your first team challenge, if not how many have you done before? What have been your favorites?
I've done all of NBRC's except Uncover It! - the mods had to stay on the background. I like them all, but Wheelathon and any goal driven one are my favs.

**Day 2 Questions**
1: What book(s) have you started and/or finished for the RaT, and what do you think of them so far?
I'm finishing up A Gathering of Shadowsright now because I've been taking forever to read it. It's great, so far, I've just been slacking. Another reason I'm looking forward to WOBBLE! Just the kick in the butt I need.

Nope, though it will certainly be the most involved one! I participated in the last Tower Teams and it was an absolute blast :)
3: What are your hobbies outside of reading?
I like playing video games though I have a terrible attention span for them. I would say TV, but I honestly only pay attention to two shows; Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead. I love musicals and singing and can be found doing that throughout the day, especially while driving. I like being outdoors when the sun is out, which hasn't been all that often here in Ohio lately. I love to travel, though I don't get to do it as often as I'd like to go. New places always get me excited!
4: Tell us FOUR more fun random facts about you!
- I used to be a single mom and am now taking up the mantle again as my husband is deployed to Korea. It's much more difficult with two children, but it's surprising how easily I slipped back into that role!
- I'm a medical laboratory scientist/technologist which is an awesome job that not a lot of people know exists. I love it!
- I have a B.S. in Agriculture. My major was Animal Sciences and I loved every second of it. Not doing much with it now (though it did allow me to test for the next level up in my certification) but I'm proud to have it.
- I grew up in the military. I've lived in California, Florida, Arizona, and Germany. My dad retired in Ohio, my current residence, but I married a military man and we'll be moving to New Mexico soon. I'm pretty stoked :)

This is turning out to be a bad read-a-thon for me. I cannot seem to stick with one book for more than an hour at a time (at most). I have listened to a few hours of Cruel Beauty so I'm a little more than half-way, and it equal about 73 pages. Then I've read about 35 pages in Legacy of the Clockwork Key I'm actually enjoying it. It's very interesting, but I think because I still have 200 pages left I'm thinking with my speed these days I won't even finish 1 book during this RaT. So obviously I started an almost 400 pages book which makes sense right? Which is The Mane Event. Here I read about 40 pages. Then I read 12 pages of Rivers of London This is such a slow read for me. I mean the magic system is interesting, but I never seem to get anywhere with the book. So yeah. Can't seem to focus on one book.

Probably watching sports. I don't know if you can call that a hobby though, but I watch sports every day. That has also been a very distracting factor today, as there was an important handball semi final today I had to watch.
