Pollopicu Thank you!

Yes, I did enjoy it very much. The beginning was a bit tedious, but once you get halfway through, it becomes fast pace.

Rose (obsessedreader9) | 215 comments Mrs. Crane, I'll be curious to hear your comments on The Brief and Wondrous World of Oscar Wao. I was so optimistic about that book, but found it so dreadful. (I see you've also read others, though, that I did love: David Copperfield, which is my favorite Dickens book; Revolutionary Road--appreciated the book and the movie; and Lolita. I'm planning on reading Les Miserables as part of my Classics Challenge through another website.)

Pollopicu I actually enjoyed Wao very much. It was surprisingly stimulating.
Here's a link to my review if you'd like to read it.

By Dicken's I first read a Tale of Two Cities. I couldn't accept the fact that it wasn't an enjoyable read for me, so I thought I would give Dickens a second chance by reading Copperfield, and I still wasn't impressed. I think Dickens is just not my style. I might read a Christmas Carol some day down the road.

Lolita. I love Lolita with all my heart and my soul. I've read it twice. The reason I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I have yet to read the annotated version. I plan on doing so soon.
Here is my review on that if you're interested.

Revolutionary Road is a favorite of mine. I think Yates is brilliant.

Rose (obsessedreader9) | 215 comments I have always loved Dickens, although there are a few of his books I've never read (I will take care of that). I am so glad, Mrs. Crane, to read your positive remarks about Revolutionary Road. As I said, I adored both the book and the movie (and thought Kate Winslet deserved an Oscar for that role, more than for The Reader, which I disliked--both the book and the movie).
