Craig Morrison English 10 P-5 Rating:**** Read May 3 to May 10 Summary: This is the sequel to The Outcasts, and follows the journey of the heron brotherband as they attempt to track the pirate Zavac across the sea. A big storms forces them to take shelter in a bay, where they continue their training with Thorn, a more than capable warrior. Hal also builds the Mangler, a giant crossbow that can be mounted on a swiveling platform an Hals boat, the Heron. When the storm lightens up, Hal & company heads out to continue on the trail, and a Skandian wolfship is sent out to help them. They eventually catch up with the pirate, holed up in a small town called Lemmat. Hal uses a combination of rebellious villagers, a skandian wolfship full of fighters, the Mangler, and the unique design of his ship to flush Zavac and his ship out. Hal and crew would have gotten him, but they chose to turn back and help the sinking skandian wolfship wounded in the fight with Zavacs ship. Personal Reflection: This book flows well from the first, and kept my attention for the majority of the time. It has a pretty good writing style, and follows a good story. The characters are relatable, although they may be a little exaggerated. I give it a four out of five and would recommend it if you like that type of stuff.
