Andy- I also hit author-planted landmines on that one. However, my Spring dead-ends high score goes to nine attempts at magical realism, who knew I could despise that many books from one genre?

They just don't give you enough information in the blurbs and even the revues aren't helpful enough with the spoilers added. Alas, Sometimes the ones I read are good, just don't fit any task. All part of our education.

Pia I think these books might work:
The series is set in Paris

The Chatelet Apprentice (Nicolas Le Floch, #1) by Jean-François Parot
January-February 1761 (Winter)

The Baker's Blood by Jean-François Parot
March-June 1775 (Spring)

Thanks!

Pia- The Chatelet Apprentice looks safe. The Baker's Blood will depend on what portion of the book he spends in Vienna.

Seems it's just the beginning of the book. The mc goes back to Paris and that's where it all happens. Anyway I'll check it out as soon as I start the book

Donna Jo- Since the Winter Solstice is December 20th/21st, the Meteorological Season dates should cover Shepherds Abiding.

You may need to flip through A Common Life: The Wedding Story before you commit. Several reviews say it's about the wedding. Other reviewers mention that it covers the proposal, the wedding and the honeymoon. If Father Tim and Cynthia believe in taking care of business rather than mulling and planning then you may be set. Remember that prologues and epilogues don't count, so perhaps the proposal is in a prologue or flashback.

Lisa - Do you happen to know how much of #6 Bury Your Dead takes place in Three Pines? It looks like it's split between Three Pines and Quebec City. I am currently reading The Brutal Telling and would love to use the next one in the series.

For anyone else - the reviews are true. These are among the most wonderful literary mysteries ever.

Chris- Your profile doesn't list where you live so I don't know if you live in or near Canada. I know very little about the area around Quebec. I live in Davidson County which has more than ten cities, however, all of those residents call themselves Nashvillians. Since the Inspector is paid by Quebec residents, but he does a lot of investigating in Three Pines, is it possible that that community also sees itself as an extension of Quebec just the way people in Belle Meade and Lakewood and Forest Hills consider themselves Nashvillians? If so, then you're covered.

Thanks! I will gladly accept that as an explanation! It's clear from the description that Three Pines and the ongoing stories of the people there are definitely a part of this book - and the main characters are all the same. And I am loving #5 so much that I can't wait to get to #6.

Blueberry Muffin Murder - Winter (Winter Carnival)
Lemon Meringue Pie Murder - Summer (Fourth of July)

Same series, both are set in Lake Eden, Minnesota

Teresa Jo-
Since Hannah needs to stay close to her shop she rarely leaves Lake Eden, so you should be okay. If by some strange, unexpected reason she's out of town for more than twenty percent of either book, it should work for 20.2 or 20.7, so it's worth the tiny risk. Good luck getting thru without snacking! :)

I read it and they were in the town the whole night. There is an end chapter where she is at college- it's called Later but is meant as an epilogue so I think you are okay to use it if Jonquil agrees.

Angel- If Rachel doesn't head to the mainland (for more than 20% of the book) when she finally decides she's had enough then you should be set.

I just read A Common Life and it doesn't fit the season, nor does Shepherds Abiding which starts earlier In late fall, I think.

Good books, but ... off to find something else.

Nope she doesn't stay that long. And he stays in Cedar Grove for the majority of the book.

How on earth did I miss this? I actually read Dandelion Wine (loved it) and wanted to fit in Something Wicked this Way Comes. GRR

What do you do when you claim points for a task but want to change it?

Nicole, it's fine to change your mind about which books you plan to use for which task at any point...just make another post in the completed task thread and clearly explain that you have already claimed points for a task and are moving the book(s) to another task. All posts to move books must be complete with all required information.

Hey, BC, the major thing I remember from The Diva Runs Out of Thyme is the battle of household hints. Both are in Alexandria and your dates are good, so Happy Thanksgiving and Mazel Tov!

Lauren (laurenjberman) Just want to confirm that these two are OK:

Both books take place on Broward's Rock Island, South Carolina:

Death On Demand - winter ("some of the sailboats were battened down for the winter")

Design For Murder - spring (in book description)

Thanks.

Lauren- Hart's characters tend to stay put and resolve things in a few days (and around 225 pages), so enjoy your visits to Rock Island.

Jamie | 421 comments I've read these books and they seem to fit but I want to check

From Chapter 2, pg 42 of No Limits - "Because of the mid-August heat wave...."

The entire book takes place in about a two week time period and is set in a town called Warfield, OH

From the same series, book 3 - Tough Love - Chapter 6, pg 147-148, "Though it was getting colder by the day, the November weather didn't seem to bother Armie."

This is also set in the same town, Warfield, OH and also takes place in about a two week time frame.

Will these work?

Thanks!
