Prosenjit Paul (bangaloredbong) Hi this is Prosenjit. most people call me either Prosen or Jeet. Grew up for some time in Panvel when it was virtually a mango orchard...worked in Mumbai for a while in Vikhroli/Thane/Vashi etc, have relkatives who stay in Thane and Navi Mumbai..occasionally visit for work. Mostly shuttle between Bangalore and Kolkata, and travel a lot for work. I run a initiative called "Libraywallah"- which is a wannabe NGO, we set up libraries across multiple locations in India for schools, orphanages, shelter homes and old age homes. We started in Mumbai with a Teach For India supported school in Malad. I like to read a lot of the books we collect from different people for donations, but really like reading humor, sci fi, young adult/fantasy and crime fiction/thrillers!! I mostly borrow to read, or raid a library, onlky buy books to gift :-) Looking forward to some interesting discussions and will drop in on any virtual/in person meets that happen if the stars align! Peace!

Shefali | 1 comments Hi My name is Shefali. I am a Data Analyst. I am 27 years old. I live currently in Worli.
I started reading when I was 10 with Akbar Birbal stories then turned to Harry Potter when turned 14.

For past one or two years I am enjoying non-fiction but want to get back to fiction too to enjoy the best of two worlds!

I currently in a reading slump and deciding which book would be better to get out of the slump- 1984 or Brandon Sanderson? Any suggestions?

Ashish Chakravarty | 31 comments Hi all, I am Ashish. An advertising professional, living in Bandra. Was wondering if the Covid/ Lockdown/ Wfh impacted our reading habit, and if so, how?
It did for me. I don’t know why exactly, but during this period, I started reading more than one book at a time. Have never done this all my life. Now I usually pair a fiction and a non fiction and read them together. And this continues even though we are nearly back to normal routines. Would be good to know if anybody else had a change too. Thanks

Pali Reen (mpsreen) | 16 comments Hi,
Since you ask how reading has affected my reading, well, I finished writing one. Though it was inspiring one, I ended it with developing Alkosing Spondylitis of my back. Now I'm trying to regain what I lost due to lack of exercise and wrong sitting posture.
Currently reading 'All the Light We cannot See

message 269: by Preeti (new)

Preeti (warriorbychoice) | 1 comments Hi there bookworms!

I'm Preeti. I have been on Goodreads for years but never socialized much. I guess, better late than never!

Well I am a technical writer but I also write creative stuff. For those who don't know what technical writing is - I work with software manuals, that little booklet you get with your gadgets and software - those.

Books are my escape, my world away from the world. I prefer fiction since our lives are heavy enough with non-fiction...

I love the thriller & mystery genre as much as I love the romance genre. My favourite book is November 9 by Colleen Hoover. I am a die-hard Dan Brown fan. I usually end up buying a book everytime I walk into a bookstore. I also end up buying books for my Kindle. Too many books to read, so little time!

If any of you like to read something I wrote, let me know, my Terribly Tiny Tales page awaits https://story.terriblytinytales.com/u...

I am always looking forward to a good book recommendation!

Cheers!

Saptaparni Ghosh | 1 comments Hi there! I'm completely new here and just found this group and I'm not quite sure if its active or not.
I'm Saptaparni and I live in Bandra. I'm currently an undergrad psychology student but I'll be graduating soon and thats why I decided to find book clubs to pass my time after graduating.

I started reading when I was around 8-9 years old and I would religiously read Geronimo Stilton books. At the age of 10 or 11 I proceeded to upgrade to Percy Jackson haha!
I mainly like to read all kinds of genre except romance. I still don't know if there is any particular genre that i really like. Currently I'm reading a classic which is "One flew over the Cuckoo's Nest" by Ken Kesey. It's a great book about the happenings in a psychiatric ward.

Anyway I would love to talk more but I'm not sure if this is an active group or if there is anyone who chats up here.

Nice to meet everyone nonetheless! Have a great day

Justlikechet | 3 comments Hey all ! I'm 21 years old living in the central side of mumbai. Cant pinpoint an age since I started reading but been a fan of good stories since as long as I can remember. I dont know if this group is active or not but would love to socialize if it is. Been in a book rut for a while but my latest read was No Longer Human by Dazai. I like all genres but there's something about literary fiction lol. Looking forward to more discussions!

Pratap Kollampadical | 3 comments Hello, fellow lovers of literature :)
I’m Pratap, living in Bandra. I’ve been in logistics for past +10 years. Space and time have been my greatest adversaries when it comes to reading! Buying a kindle was perhaps the best decision I ever made! I’m glad to be here, and hope that this group is active in both the physical & digital realms! Honestly, I have no genre biases when it comes to reading, I don’t believe there is any such thing as a “bad” book; everything is a matter of perspective. AJ Cronin (the famed Scottish physician & novelist) was the first author I read, and subsequently devoured his books like dessert. Since then, I have tried to expand my choice of literature, with limited success. My work-life balance (or imbalance!) has always made it difficult to physically travel to new places, but books grant me both solace and the opportunity to wander! I’d love to know what we’re currently reading together and how are we exchanging thoughts & ideas!? Hope to hear from you folks - please feel free to reply directly to me! Ciao for now!

Hallo! Thanks for reaching out! Haha, the Cit was lit! Read it ages ago, but never forgotten! I didn't know it was on the to-be-read list! It looks like this particular group falls under the "another one bites the dust" category! With the monsoons seemingly kicking in, I am very keen to start reading something new. Let me know if you want to pick a book and exchange ideas! Ciao for now! Pratap

message 276: by Megha (new)

Megha Chakraborty | 1 comments Hi, I'm Megha Chakraborty, a 33-year-old writer and filmmaker living in Thane. Books were always my escape. Growing up, I devoured Raj Comics, Champak, and the occasional Twinkle. In the hostel, a friend introduced me to Sidney Sheldon's novels, and I haven't stopped reading since.

I love a good story, no matter the genre. Right now, I'm on a kick of female authors, with Murakami, Garcia Marquez, and Deborah Levy being some of my favorites. Don't judge, but Harry Potter holds a special place in my heart too! When it comes to non-fiction, I enjoy psychology and biology, but fiction is my true love.

Hi Megha! Nice to meet you here. I'm afraid this group is inactive. I joined a while back and sent out a few messages but never got any response!
