If I read a series would that count as a pair or do I have to read it with my partner?

Those two books can be put in the set because they are the same, so they would count as similar. They would still with a third book, though to make the boxed set ☺.

You are allowed to do that, but try to also make boxed sets with your partner. Don't forget, the boxed sets must be of three books ☺

No, sorry. It is only because you would be getting a lot of points for a book that you only read once. There will be a "power round" though later on in the challenge where you take all of the books you have read throughout the challenge, and you put them into as many sets as you can (repeating books is allowed) within 24 hours or so. Hopefully this sense ☺
