Margaret (everlastinggrace) I have reviewed two of my NetGalley books: Courageous Gentleness Following Christ’s Example of Restrained Strength by Mary Ann Froehlich and Tongue Pierced How the Words You Speak Transform the Life You Live by Nelson Searcy YES! how's that for a good start! ha! I would have checked on my feedback ratio but I got out of there fast, probably because I am afraid to request another book. At least I am on my way to let's say maybe 20%. lol

I downloaded that one too. I liked paper magician (but not book 2 as the MC was TSTL), but the concepts she puts together are so interesting that I wanted to see what this one was like. I am a little concerned though as it is reminiscent of The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake which ended up as a 2 star read for me

Well... as I said.. It is getting a little weird... But it has me starting to try to guess why she can't remember and other things, and I never do that.

There is one character I'm not enjoying though,.. because the original way I saw him is completely different the way he's acting now... and some feelings & thoughts she has are not explained as well as the others... But maybe that's me.

Also, I think the book sounds young adult, even if the characters are not that age frame.

Tell me about it lol, bad enough I added about 20+ romance books to my regular tbr list on here cause they were all free on amazon.

Also bad idea to look at read now on romance lol.

Now going through my active listing on what archives & publishes this month.

Yeah, I go through books pretty quickly.
Sad that Samhain Publishing is done, finito. They don't "exist" on Publisher Listings anymore and I snapped up pretty much every book that caught my eye these last few months thus why I have a large NG tbr. I always went there cause I knew I would find a supernatural romance title.

Yeah, some sh!t happened just before the announcement within the publishing house and then this msg went out: http://us2.campaign-archive2.com/?u=c...

And near the end of last month everything that was up for request was archived on NG.
So if you read any series put out by them I would check the author's site what will happen to them, I follow a few good series that are now on hold.

Escape from an Italian-American Kitchen by Rob Chirico
Escape from an Italian-American Kitchen by Rob Chirico

The copy of this book that I received from NetGalley was called Not My Mother's Kitchen. I was really disappointed in this book. I also come from a large Italian family and have grown into a better cook than my mother, partly because I like to experiment and learn new recipes techniques, where my mother tends to cook what she knows, and partly because I have been fortunate enough to be able to afford better quality ingredients than she could. I felt that I would be able to relate to the author and looked forward to some funny, loving family stories in the memoir, as well as some delicious recipes. Unfortunately, I found the book a bit boring and the author came across as arrogant and "better than" at times. Not at all what I was hoping for. Oh well, they can't all be winners. 2★

Not My Mother's Kitchen review

Even more disappointing - I just checked my review rate and it didn't change at all after reviewing that book! Not even one percent. Bummer.

this book God's Crime Scene A Cold-Case Detective Examines the Evidence for a Divinely Created Universe by J. Warner Wallace was a no-go for me....a lot of reasons, mainly the way it was written and there were weird black pages every 3 to 4 pages which made for difficult reading. I informed the publishers of this problem and I signed that one off.
