Zaizhuang | 2 comments Hi guys! I'd like for you to try out a new book recommendation service I wrote - https://bookmatic.co.

I'm an avid reader and I created bookmatic.co to keep myself informed when great (highly rated and well reviewed) books are published.

bookmatic.co is simple to use, just sign up with your email and select the genres you like. You’ll get notified when new highly rated books in your genres are released. You can also ban genres you don’t like for more fine grained control over the book suggestions.

Do give it a try and let me know what you think, feedback will be very helpful. Thanks!

Ty Findlay | 12 comments Hey guys!

My website has a combination of things. It has two stores, one for my books and one for the custom beaded bracelets that I make. I also have a blog where I share my views on different topics and it will soon also feature author interviews and book reviews. My website also features my tell your story contest, where you can win free merchandise.

I'm going to check out the websites in this group and hopefully, I can connect with a few authors! Give my website a look-see and let me know what you think. Feedback is always welcomed! www.tyfindlay.com

Elizabeth: You might want to consider creating a website where all of your links will be found under one url. It's much easier to get your content seen this way, as few people will search multiple links to see the work of an unknown writer. My two cents; hope it helps.

Ty: I checked out your site, here's my feedback.

1. Change the purple color. It's distracting and makes your content hard to read. If you want to keep the tone, choose a more transparent color, like lavender, so that the black lettering will stand out more.

2. Change the font. It's too small and also not "friendly." You seem to have a very open and inclusive personality, and I can see that you're trying to put that energy out on your site, which is a great thing! But that font isn't working for you. There are sites where you can download 50 cutting edge fonts for $39; do it, you'll be happy you did, as you will have MANY more options with which to create your site.

3. You're very pretty, and that's a great marketing tool. However, the pictures you have on your site aren't maximizing that strength. Have your pictures taken by a professional; it shouldn't cost you more than $150 for about two hours. Shop around and get a local photographer to take some studio shots, with different moods, outfits, and angles. Make sure the photographer will include photoshopping of the pictures you end up choosing. I have a photographer that will shoot about 100 pictures and will photoshop up to 14. That's standard.

4. I love that you ask your audience to share their stories; why not offer them a chance to be featured on your blog? For example: "Have a story to tell? Please share! One article will be chosen a month and will be featured on my blog front and center. The theme this month is...." That way your audience will have a REASON to share. Also, when you post someone else's work, they will be sharing it with their followers as well, increasing the number of visitors to your own site. By stating the theme, writers have parameters and writing prompts.

5. I'm not sure how I feel about selling bracelets on your site, but I guess it could work if they are linked to what your blog is about. For example, if you were writing about female empowerment, then tie that message to the bracelets. A "strength" bracelet, a "promise" bracelet, a "unity" bracelet, these could sell really well if your content is inspiring and your readers would like to take a piece of your message with them on a day-to-day basis.

That's my feedback; hope it helps! =D
