Snacks to write by.

But mint helps to stabilize the brain, and chocolate has been scientifically proven to help combat run on sentences. (maybe?)

A packet of Sensations Thai sweet chilli crisps + Vimto bonbons + some flavoured squash. I should probably be getting fat, but I think I burn off all that energy through my fingers and brain! ;)
I'm already too fat and try to avoid snacking during writing time. Sometimes suck on a hard candy or eat an apple. Keep my water handy.

Therefore no weight gain. Bonus!

I always think tea, and nuts make good combination while writing. I wonder if that is the reason why all these squirrels keep popping up in my stories.
I like food too much to do anything else while I'm eating. If I try it just becomes all about the food until it's gone.
I usually have a slice of pie and a cup of coffee in my favourite cafe while I write. I don't know what it is about that stuff that helps me, it just does...which isn't always a good thing if my growing midriff is any indication.

I love food but i can rarely eat and write lol i'm much too easily distracted and will just focus on the food. that said, when i do eat and write it's usually something not greasy or just messy in general. so no chips or chocolate for me :(
Michael wrote: "I love food but i can rarely eat and write lol i'm much too easily distracted and will just focus on the food. that said, when i do eat and write it's usually something not greasy or just messy in ..."Same with me. i'm messy and i usually forget to eat anyway. I am just starving when I get done.
I usually have a beverage or two going while I write. Anything caffeinated works, though I need different types of caffeine at different points in the day... Coffee works best in the morning, energy drinks like Monster are awesome for midday and decaf black tea is very inspiring at night :) I can't have food while I work though, it covers my keyboard with crumbs :D
lol yes the mess i cannot stand, especially when there are greasy fingers and it smears the paper or the keyboard and its just agh lol it gets to me ^^"
Michael wrote: "lol yes the mess i cannot stand, especially when there are greasy fingers and it smears the paper or the keyboard and its just agh lol it gets to me ^^""I'm with you there, which is why I've developed a crumb-proof, grease-free method. You'll need a bowl to hold under the chocolate and you use the wrapper so no chocolate gets on your fingers. When there's a will there's a way ;)

you just turned my world upside down. and perhaps a chance that you may have created a monster O.O be right back, gonna get me a bowl lol
Coffee or espresso or a four-shot Americano usually does the trick.Although ... I have been munching on some little smoked pork bits (halfway between a sausage and jerky) chased down with crunchy fresh Serrano chili peppers.
Popcorn, sour cream and onion Pringles, Pepsi, Diet Coke, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, tuna with crackers, string cheese. I am a human garbage disposal.
Coffee or water. I have to have a beverage at all times. I try not to eat while writing, though. Aside from the mess factor, keeping my weight down is medically necessary, which is probably the worst diet ever.
I love having tea while writing, especially winter spice tea. I can't always do that though. Ice cold water is a must at all times. Food? I've done snacks when starving, but I really shouldn't. My poor laptop is a mess already!
I noticed there was no wine among the beverages here. Probably best considering the potential rewrites :)

I like how you think Libby :)
Wine is very useful. I'm going to go get some. Chocolate is great, too. So is coffee. I'm not sure about chocolate helping to combat run on sentences. But then, I love run-on sentences -- just love them. My record is 169 words, but with enough wine & chocolate & coffee, I'm gunning for 200.

Words to live by! (Although my writing might drive an editor to drink.)
Chocolate biscuits with tea or coffee for me.I even smuggled some into the retreat I went to when I was finishing my last book! ;-P
CB; if one were to die in a glitter mine I'd at least be happy to be leaving a pretty sparkly corpse ;-o
I generally don't eat while writing, but I nearly always have coffee. And fortunately, in my three favorite places to write, home, coffee shop and library, coffee is plentiful.
Pringles, nuts, chocolate buttons ... the short answer is I'm a human dustbin.Oddly chocolate nearly always ends up on the steamier passages. I'm not sure what that signifies.
The best snack ever is potato chips mixed with mini pretzels. I don't know why the flavors compliment each other so well.
S.J. wrote: "I noticed there was no wine among the beverages here. Probably best considering the potential rewrites :)"Well, since I mostly write while in coffeehouses, my adult drink of choice isn't available.
Writing at home? Scotch.

Live fast, die young, and leave a sparkly corpse!

I have a bag of peanut M&M's and a bottle of brother's Toffee Apple Cider...but not all the time, sometimes I go with just Earl Grey Green Tea.
Mostly not a snacker. But. A very large drink sometimes helps when the characters are being particularly bolshie....
I agree with Gisele above, chips mixed with pretzels are pretty amazing! Along with a Jack Daniel's and Coke to wash them down.
Works well for a little while...
Toffee apple cider is awesome. I could happily get drunk on it...but I won't. I restrict myself to one bottle every other day.

I love this! Depends on the time of day, before 11:00 AM coffee or tea after that some sort of alcoholic beverage.......... bourbon, wine, a beer........... depends on what my characters are doing, but definitely an adult beverage, no umbrella required :)

Here's to sparkles *raises grown-up juice*
PS it's evening here in South Africa.
Jane wrote: "Mostly not a snacker. But. A very large drink sometimes helps when the characters are being particularly bolshie...."I wish I could say that. I am such a snacker.
I used to eat alot of chips... then I started eating fruits instead and that's when I don't write. When I'm in the middle of writing I even forget to breath.
Yes, that dramatic.
My favorite writing snack is a cheesy turtle from the Korean bakery and a cup of tea. :) Cheesy turtle is a really cute bun shaped like a turtle, with sweet cream cheese filling inside. Yum!
I've never heard of a 'cheesy turtle' but that sounds delicious & so cute, a turtle shaped pastry - love cream cheese!!!

What are your favorite snacks to munch on while writing? Right now I'm halfway through a slab of mint chocolate. I'd like to say it aids the creative process but that would be fibbing :)
