Why was Winston so concerned if life had been better before the revolution than it was then?

Sandy Winston had proved many times that the Party had been lying, plus the life at that time was getting worse and worse.
Does it really matter how the life had been before the Revolution?


Yefim Winston was concerned with the Party's falsifying reality through Newspeak and editing history. He was not concerned with whether life before the revolution was better or worse, per se, but with testing yet again if the Party had been lying about it.
