I liked the book in the beginning but in the end it was ruined.

She started the series off beautifully, Divergent had it's literary faults - as does any other book - but it still had you hooked enough to read it over and over.
Insurgent was okay, it didn't have the same magic Divergent did, but it was entertaining and I was excited for it.
And the characters were effulgent and lively and altogether amazing (Tris, Four, Christina, Uriah, etc).
But then, after finishing Insurgent and moving onto Allegiant things get bad. I mean, they get really, really, bad. Like no-heel-high-heels, what on earth were you thinking? bad. I'd like to say her plot was good, but it wasn't, it was awful. Her whole backstory for what was outside the fence was trash. 'Hey, we created your little town of people to purify the human race, and we've been watching your every move since you were born'. Ugh, what? Every sci-fi book has to have a good, sound, intelligible background - Allegiant didn't have one in any way shape or form. Not to mention (*SPOILER*) she killed Tris off when Caleb could have died.... COME ON!!! Why couldn't Caleb die instead of Tris? He needed to redeem himself after all the traitorous things he'd done in Insurgent. That was the worst for me... I bawled my eyes out. Tris and Uriah die but all the ugly, evil donkey butts of the story live (i.e. David, Peter, Marcus).... Like no. Just NO.
Allegiant RUINED the Divergent series. Veronica just butchered an otherwise good trilogy.

Thank you, I think you translated your thoughts on the book into words better than I did. I totally agree with your review.

I see what you mean. It really doesn't reflect well on Caleb, does it? The aftermath shows that he still doesn't really get it. "She loved me. she held me at gunpoint so she could die for me.... But that's just how it is." Hated that.

I must say, I respectfully have to disagree with you about the necessity of Tris's sacrifice. It could be, and has been, argued in other discussions on goodreads and on other websites that Tris's sacrifice wasn't necessary. I'm not talking about Tris taking Caleb's place, but about the plan which created the whole situation: Tris's plan to use memory serum on everyone in the bureau compound. You also mentioned about Tris's divergence and aptitudes for all five factions:the possibility of amity in her, the desire to have a peaceful outcome with the least destruction. Tris concocted the same plan to use against the bureau that David had ordered to be used against those in Chicago (it was ordered to stop Evelyn killing everyone with death serum.) Tris decried David's plan as wrong and evil, yet she goes and does exactly the same thing. Tris's plan was also about hurting people. When Tobias raised his concerns, Tris commented it was the best of two bad options as it saved the ones she loved and that the bureau people were "lucky I (tris) didn't kill them." Yes, whilst this attitude is definitely understandable, it doesn't give testament to Tris's selflessness or possible amity aptitude, in my opinion.
If anyone is curious about why people think the ending of this book is horrible, they can read a brilliant analysis. The author discusses the necessity (or lack of necessity), and suggests other courses of action which could have been taken.
