SOLVED. Alpha wolf of a wolf pack keeps it in check and has to keep an eye out on a lone wolf named dry bones [s]

Okay, so here is what I remember:

-the lone wolf is named dry bones
-at some point they capture the alpha and he's giant compared to the rest of the wolves. They note that the growth of the alpha never actually stops
-somehow, one of the villagers in the nearby village, a girl, has befriended the wolves and she's the one instructing the scientist (?) who I assume captured the alpha for some reason
-when they try to let him go after all the tests have been performed, he won't leave the front of the cage because that's how all the pain and suffering began, so the girl tells the scientists to cut a hole in the back of the cage and the wolf runs away
-he's the alpha of a whole giant pack and in his absence a lone wolf named Dry Bones has taken over.
-something about a scary bear

Julie's Wolf Pack ?

Was it a kids book? This is the third book in a series and the lone wolf is named Raw Bones. The book is told from the wolves viewpoint and there is an eskimo girl that befriends them and I think there was a bear that was after the pups? There was also a rabies plotline.
