I'm going to pass on The Name of the Wind this month and try to catch up on some of my other books on my list. I should finish Lord Valentine's Castle in the next few days then I'm going to start The Silver Gryphon from the Mage Wars trilogy. The Black Gryphon was great, The White Gryphon was terrible (I couldn't finish it) but since these books can be read as stand alones I thought I would give Silver Gryphon a chance. I'm also planning to get to Suldrun's Garden and A Light into the Darkness. That should be my month.
I'm currently reading The Painted Man, and then I want to read Half a War. After that, I think I'll carry on with the Powder Mage series (I read the first book at the end of 2015).
I too will pass on The Name of the Wind, I read it just half a year ago. I will continue my reading of Stone of Farewell and The Last Unicorn, and start reading The Last Battle with my girlfriend this weekend.I'm also looking to start Suldrun's Garden and Last Argument of Kings and possibly something from Charles Saunders.
Finished The Thousand Names last night, and will be joining in on the Name of the Wind read (as soon as appropriate threads are up. Meanwhile, my plans for the month include a couple of Discworld novels, The Shadow Throne (after NotW), a couple of Catholic reads, and polishing off The Belgariad if there's enough time.

I'm resting up from the labors of my Epic Shannara Quest for the month of April. (Three hundred years pass between the Shannara trilogy and The Heritage of Shannara series, so I'll rest up.)It's not fantasy, but I've got at least three classics on tap for April: The Grapes of Wrath, The Mystery of Edwin Drood and Beau Geste. I hope anyway. I'm a slow reader.
John Steinbeck is my girlfriend's favourite author. I should really pick up more of his works some time soon.
Just finished Gardens of the Moon on my night shift last night. I'm hooked! Now to finish Knife of Dreams and The Name of the wind! Also reading The Widow's House this month with the sister group

Jenna wrote: "Daniel wrote: "Finished The Thousand Names last night, and will be joining in on the Name of the Wind read (as soon as appropriate threads are up. Meanwhile, my plans for the month ..."I liked it. I wrote a short review which is more detailed, but briefly: I thought it was a very distinct read. Definitely low fantasy - it's mostly a relatively period-faithful fiction of a military campaign, but I've read that the supernatural/fantasy elements play a larger role in later books, so I'm definitely sold for book 2. :)
Finishing up the Aeronaut's Windlass by Jim Butcher which I'm doing as an audio-book. It's excellent as is the narrator. Finishing up Throne of Glass which I'm reading because my 11 year old daughter wanted to do it. Fun book nothing overly inappropriate for that age group.
Sticking with Butcher and doing the Furies of Calderon. Then
The Lies of Locke Lamora (Gentleman Bastard, #1) and we'll see what's left in the month after that.
Javier wrote: "I will probably be embarking myself on reading Mistborn Trilogy."plz do. it's a fantastic series.
Javier wrote: "I will probably be embarking myself on reading Mistborn Trilogy."It's such a great series! I just finished the 6th book and it was wonderful.
I'm reading Spirit Legacy
Half-way through, will be doing a review on my BookTuber channel and will also post a review here.
Happy reading everyone!!
Any suggestions on what to read next?

I am hoping to start Deadhouse Gates this weekend. Anyone else who read Gardens of the Moon for the book club read last month want to do a buddy read?
Jenna wrote: "I am hoping to start Deadhouse Gates this weekend. Anyone else who read Gardens of the Moon for the book club read last month want to do a buddy read?"Rats. I would if I didn't have my heart set on Name of the Wind. I read about half of Deadhouse Gates and tapered off a year or two ago, and have been meaning to re-read it determinedly.

Depending on how fast you read, the discussion will still be active if people get involved. Enjoy Name of the Wind! It's one of my favourites.
Opening the month with the Legend Trilogy Boxed Set, YA, dystopia (so not my usual fare at all) and romance. Straightforward and entertaining. Not sure about what I am going to read next. This one was an impulse choice after all.
Finishing three great books: The Satanic Verses
River of Stars
The Blade Itself
enjoying all three immensely
I started Gardens of the Moon
I´ve already read The Name of the Wind, so I´ll skip that one.
When we read the Malazan series in another group, most books were given 6 weeks due to the size.
I've read: The Drowning Eyes, The Rest of Us Just Live Here and now Cuckoo Song

I must be suffering of a slight case of Dyslexia because I can't seem to write anything very clear or concise. Anyway, I finished Lord Valentine's Castle. I rated it 4 stars. Here's what think. When I first read this book I thought "wow, this is a sci-fi fantasy and not just fantasy and it's put together in such a great and believeable way". At first Valentine had no idea who he was or how he got there. But his journey to discovering who his true identity was and how he became Valentine the juggler was fascinating and interesting. This was an older book, written around 1980. So I'm really surprised that this booked is not more recognized today. After all, it's a great tale that doesn't read as dated and would be enjoyed today as back then. Started Suldrun's Garden today.
I plan on reading Room and Little Women this month. I know there is another book I wanna read but I have not chosen yet.
Finished A Darker Shade of Magic and immediately began A Gathering of Shadows, again by V.E. Schwab.
Janessa wrote: "I'm planning on The Hero of Ages and then Assassin's Apprentice."I finally bought the third one in the Farseer Trilogy so I can lend you all three :) (after I finish it of course). Enjoy the last of the original Mistborn trilogy!
Janessa wrote: "I'm planning on The Hero of Ages and then Assassin's Apprentice."wow, i have also just started Hero of Ages
Shari Kay wrote: "Bah putting The Dwarves on hold. Been striking out on my latest fantasy read choices"Oh I really liked The Dwarves series. Too bad you it wasn't to your taste.
I am taking a break from fantasy this month. I am going to read Go Set a Watchman but after that I am going to start The Mists of Avalon
Just started Archivist Wasp, a dystopian-fantasy which seems to have some thematic parallels to The Fifth Season (which was great read, by the way!).I'm on the fence about starting Twelve Kings in Sharakhai... I keep picking it up and putting it down.
I have just finished the first 3 books of chronicles of the black company and absolutely loved them. I'll be moving on to the next 3 in that series straight away.

Just finished The Last Unicorn and wrote my review this morning. Very unique and surprisingly thought provoking read.

Finished The Bands of Mourning yesterday. One word: Amazing. Now I've started Golden Son. I was planning on reading Morning Star right after, but I'm going on vacation soon and I don't like to travel with hardback books. So, I'm probably going take a different book to read after.
Elise wrote: "Finished The Bands of Mourning yesterday. One word: Amazing."I read this one about a week ago and loved it too!

Diving into The Harry Potter series. Why I waited I'll never know. After Wards I'll look towards Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn trilogy it's been on my back burner for ages.

You should try the audio versions of Harry Potter (American Version, different actors doing the reading). They are some of the most entertaining audiobooks I have ever listened to.

Now where's my soap box... Stephen Fry does an amazing job of narrating Harry Potter. I forget it's him and think it's the cast. Also, I thought it was the carry on actor that did it in the us?
Ok, The British version is really great. Buuuuut.......the American versions did win two Grammy Awards (2008 and 2001 Best Spoken Album for Children) and three Audie Awards(2001 and two in 2004 with one of these being best overall narrative). The American version was performed by the great British actor Jim Dale (you are correct he was the Carry On actor). I actually have listened to both versions and I have to honestly say, Jim's is a tad better, by about this much (visualize a really tiny amount). ; )
