I am rereading some of the Betsy-Tacy books; I still love them even though they were written such a long time ago. :) Betsy Was a Junior / Betsy and Joe
and I finally finished The Story of a New Name
, which was really, really good, but so long; I wanted to finish it so I could read some of the other books I was wanting to read. ;) there are two more books in that series, but I am going to have to wait to start them; they are long, too!
Oops-I think I put the link to the Italian version of The Story if a New Name; I did not read it in Italian, LOL!

Is this series good? For some reason I think I skipped book one because of something but can't remember!

Was it because of me? Because I really did not care for the first book. :P I know a lot of people love the series, though!

I think a few of my trusted GR friends like you didn't care for the first book Brigid. I am guessing that is why I skipped it.

Ha! I was going to ask whether it was because of me. I made it a little ways into book one and then DNF'd it. I was not a fan at all, although the book/series had received a lot of hype. Coincidentally, I recently met the author's agent at a book conference here in Hawaii.
Yes I think you were also one of the people who warned me away David! I knew if we a few of you that I trust :)
I seem to be the minority in a lot of books I like, so don't go by me. I liked the first book and I'm enjoying this one even more. I know Jenny read Red Queen and liked it, not sure if she loved it though. I'm probably the worst person to ask for recommendations! Haha :p
I'm not as hard of a marker as most people on here. I can't help it, I just love most of what I read. If I don't like a book then it's very obvious I'm disappointed, because I'm usually not.

Unless a book is horrible, or just incredibly boring, I usually will like it at least a little! Some I love better than others, though.
Yes, I LOVED Red Queen. Not my fave fantasy ever, but the ENDING to that one was so awesome! Another one of my faves last year was
I also ADORED

Thanks Donna! I am quite picky usually but sometimes I wish I would be like you and just love to read like you do :)

Jenny, yes I follow how you rate a book a lot. I find we are pretty similar in tastes. I loved
too! I have
and plan on reading it soon. I feel bad giving recommendations because most people are disappointed in something I really liked. Haha.

I have no problem when people don't like a book I love or really like. I just feel bad if I recommended it. Ya know?
@Bluemoon - Yeah, that's pretty much the reason I didn't give it a full 5 stars either (can't remember if I gave it a 4 or a 4.5, lol). Otherwise I enjoyed the book, though; it just wasn't my favorite of the whole series.
@Donna - Omg I totally know what you mean. I don't really care if people dislike the books I like, but I do feel bad if I recommend a book to someone and they don't like it. :P

Donna wrote: "I have no problem when people don't like a book I love or really like. I just feel bad if I recommended it. Ya know?"Ackkkk same here! I feel like I failed them lol. I rave about Unwind all the time and three of my friends read it in the last 3 months and gave it 2 stars :P
I started listening to
on audio and while I'm really enjoying it, this is one instance where I feel like picking up the print book would be better for me - Fforde's world-building is so intricate and there are so many little details that I have to really focus while listening, otherwise I miss things. I'll probably wind up with it on my bookshelf at home eventually :) I read the first Thursday Next book (paperback) a few years ago and the same thing happened, I was glad to have it in my hands so I could skip back to look at something quickly if I needed to, to catch references and so forth.

I listened to the first book in his nursery rhyme series on audio and now wonder if that was why I didn't love it? Hmmm..

I 100% get what you mean. If I recommend something someone doesn't like I have a two fold experience - on one hand I feel bad for the poor book I recommend (oh why or why didn't they love you too?) and on the other hand I fell bad for wasting someones time.

Heidi--I never consider reading time wasted, even if its not something I liked. Reading is NEVER time wasted for me :)
That is good Jenny :) I hope anyone else I have recommended books they did not love feels the same way! I tend to be pretty lucky so far that people at least seem to be ok with my recommendations - no one has really disliked one at least (that I know of???)

What? They are crazy! Lol
But I get what y'all mean, I also feel as if I recommend a book and the reader ends up not liking it.
I finished my reread of
and I liked this one much better the second time. Also finished a beta read I was doing.Next I'm reading

I've only read the first book in the Unwind series too, Jenny. I bought the second and third, but haven't read them yet.

Can't wait to hear about Salt to the Sea!
I just finished reading...
I don't know what it is about this series that I'm really enjoying, but I won't complain. They're a light fun read. literally takes me just few hours to finish!
