Caitlin Mcnamee (alanna-sama) | 51 comments I just finished Zenith (The Androma Saga, #1) by Sasha Alsberg , and I loved it. Now I am reading One Plus One by Jojo Moyes , and am looking forward to seeing how this plays out.

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments I finished both The Clouded Sky (Earth & Sky, #2) by Megan Crewe and Before She Ignites (Fallen Isles Trilogy #1) by Jodi Meadows and I really enjoyed them both!

This weekend I'm doing a readathon with a Facebook reading group. I'm actually doing it as a 3 day readathon because I have Monday off!

My TBR:
Fierce How Competing for Myself Changed Everything by Aly Raisman First & Then by Emma Mills Ever the Brave (A Clash of Kingdoms #2) by Erin Summerill The Dazzling Heights (The Thousandth Floor #2) by Katharine McGee

message 1255: by Ashley Marie (new)

Ashley Marie Thunderhead (Arc of a Scythe, #2) by Neal Shusterman finally showed up from the library! Tearing through it as fast as I can while still doing my best to savor everything -- Neal Shusterman is a genius.

Zenith is a story set in space, but not a space we know. It is a completely fictional galaxy, many planets, and has a Firefly feel. The captain of the Marauder is named Androma, and definitely reminds me of Malcolm Reynolds, and her crew is spectacular. It is definitely well worth picking up.

Oh I loved One plus one. Jojo Moyes is pretty awesome.

I'm reading Other Minds The Octopus, the Sea, and the Deep Origins of Consciousness by Peter Godfrey-Smith which is fascinating and Conspiracy (The Emperor's Edge, #4) by Lindsay Buroker which I'm finding ok, like the rest of the series. Still not sure if I'll continue after this one though.

I liked One Plus One, but I did not like the pace of the book. It was too slow for me.

Thats a shame but yes I can see that. It was very slow paced.

Ashley Marie Finished THUNDERHEAD. Holy crap what a book. Now it's time to get back to FAHRENHEIT 451 and LES MISERABLES. Oh, and I have to start on BEFORE I LET GO as well.

message 1264: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments So, my 3 day weekend readathon is over. I read a total of 1,551 pages!

I finished Before She Ignites (Fallen Isles Trilogy #1) by Jodi Meadows Fierce How Competing for Myself Changed Everything by Aly Raisman First & Then by Emma Mills Ever the Brave (A Clash of Kingdoms #2) by Erin Summerill

I enjoyed them all. First & Then got 3.5 stars from me. I liked her newest book, Foolish Hearts a lot better. This was her first book and the writing was a bit rough. But I eventually got into it. The characters were awesome, and it had a good ending.

The other 3 books all got 4 stars. Really fun reads!

I'm almost done with The Dazzling Heights (The Thousandth Floor #2) by Katharine McGee which is so addicting!

After that, its Nyxia (The Nyxia Triad, #1) by Scott Reintgen and Batman Nightwalker (DC Icons, #2) by Marie Lu

Thanks! I recommend it if you are into gymnastics at all :) It was a quick read, and I learned a lot about Aly personally (love her even more now!) and USA gymnastics in general.

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments I finished The Dazzling Heights (The Thousandth Floor #2) by Katharine McGee liked it as much as the first! Very futuristic "Pretty Little Liars"

Also finished a reread of The Sorceress (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel, #3) by Michael Scott loved it! I think this is my fave book of the series (so far)

Finished Batman Nightwalker (DC Icons, #2) by Marie Lu which was really good and I enjoyed a lot, although not quite as much as Wonder Woman. But still a good read!

And finished The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle and really loved these stories! Need to get the rest of the stories!

Started Nyxia (The Nyxia Triad, #1) by Scott Reintgen and I really like it so far!

I'm really lucking out so far on reading this year!

You're reading some classics there Ashley. I have never read Les Mis - only watched the movie forms.

message 1271: by Ashley Marie (new)

Ashley Marie Les Mis is definitely a long-haul sort of book. Apparently you're supposed to be able to read a chapter a day and finish it in a year -- I've been trying to read two or three a day (although there have been a few nights I haven't read it) so we'll see how it works out :)

message 1272: by [deleted user] (new)

I want to read Les Mis but yes it is a BIG book.
reading Summer Days and Summer Nights Twelve Love Stories by Stephanie Perkins atm

Only a few pages in to it, but enjoying it. The first story is a leigh bardugo story.

Ashley Marie My mom gave me a small 40-page book of poems by an ancestor/relative of mine for Christmas, which I've just picked up and finished in about 20-30 minutes.

VIGNETTES FROM A SICK ROOM by Eva Louise Loutzenheiser, my 1st cousin 3x removed, who was born in 1900 and passed in 1963. I'm still digging a bit to uncover her full story, but she dedicated the little book to her sister Mabel, who appears to have cared for her and helped get the book published by a small indie place in Canton OH, likely after Eva was gone.

It's a very sweet collection of poems and snippets: she has several that involve cobwebs in corners or on lampshades, likely because those are the things she could see from bed, and one memorable piece about hoping a spider crawled out of the sink before she turned on the tap because as much as she disliked spiders she didn't want to drown him :) Also a few pieces thanking friends for sending flowers, reminiscing about how much she used to love pie, and one written in honor of someone's birthday.

If anyone's remotely interested, I also found VIGNETTES on Google Books.

Caitlin Mcnamee (alanna-sama) | 51 comments I'm currently reading Goldenhand (Abhorsen, #5) by Garth Nix , because I need to know what happens to Lirael after the events of the previous book. I am also writing a story that came to me from a dream I had years ago that I am surprised I actually remembered.

I did too! I actually read it before Everything Everything. I was glad I picked it up to read.

Caitlin Mcnamee (alanna-sama) | 51 comments I'm currently reading Goldenhand (Abhorsen, #5) by Garth Nix and The Cruel Prince (The Folk of the Air, #1) by Holly Black . The cover for the Cruel Prince is absolutely gorgeous on both the inside and the outside.

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments My reading weekend was pretty good! Not as great as last weekend, but I had more going on!

I finished Wicked Like a Wildfire (Hibiscus Daughter, #1) by Lana Popović and The Legend of Wonder Woman Vol. 1 Origins by Renae De Liz gave both 4 stars. Both enjoyable reads!

I'm halfway through The Cruel Prince (The Folk of the Air, #1) by Holly Black and I'm starting to get into it. It took a bit.

Also just a little way into Fireblood (Frostblood Saga, #2) by Elly Blake which is okay so far.

I tried the first Abhorsen book because everyone loves that series but I could not get into it at all. I kept falling asleep. I do wonder if that one might be better on audio for me. It seems so popular I feel bad for abandoning it

Sabriel might be best to audiobook. I've never done an audiobook myself, but I know that the other books in the series can be hard to read. Clariel has been the hardest to read for me.

I'm reading The Cruel Prince myself, and absolutely loving it! I picked it up to read in my local Barnes and Noble, and could not put it down. Eventually, my best friend noticed, and bought it for me.

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments I finished The Cruel Prince (The Folk of the Air, #1) by Holly Black and I really enjoyed it! More than her other fey trilogy, not quite as much as The Darkest Part of the Forest, but still a good read!

Also read Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon and I just adored this, rated it 4.5 stars!

Right now I'm reading Nyxia (The Nyxia Triad, #1) by Scott Reintgen Fireblood (Frostblood Saga, #2) by Elly Blake Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon and rereading The Assassin's Blade (Throne of Glass, #0.1-0.5) by Sarah J. Maas

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments I finished Nyxia (The Nyxia Triad, #1) by Scott Reintgen and I really enjoyed this one!

Started Sweethearts by Sara Zarr and I'm pretty hooked. The flashbacks this girl is having are HEARTBREAKING. I really am hoping for a good ending with this one, the main romantic relationship is not a typical one by any means.

Still reading Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon and I'm really liking it right now! Also rereading The Assassin's Blade (Throne of Glass, #0.1-0.5) by Sarah J. Maas

message 1298: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments I finished The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli and I ended up really liking it. I really liked the realism, it the kids in it talked and acted just like teens today. And the ending was realistic as well.

Also finished Fireblood (Frostblood Saga, #2) by Elly Blake which was a good sequel, I liked it a bit better than the first. The last book comes out in June! Woot!

Almost done with my reread of The Assassin's Blade (Throne of Glass, #0.1-0.5) by Sarah J. Maas loving it, loving it!

Started Stay with Me (Wait for You, #3) by J. Lynn tonight and I can't put it down, its so addictive!

And also working on a beta read ;)

Ashley Marie Currently:

Les Misérables by Victor Hugo The Autobiography of Malcom X by Malcolm X The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave by Frederick Douglass The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde

I looked at this list just now and laughed out loud. So many man-centric books! But they're all very good. I'm looking forward to starting NK Jemisin's FIFTH SEASON as soon as I finish one of these.

I also just finished Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman and loved it.
