Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments I just finished William Shakespeare's Star Wars Verily, A New Hope (William Shakespeare's Star Wars, #4) by Ian Doescher and I adored this read! Great fun humor in this one. Its so awesome looking at Star Wars from a Shakespearian POV (like if it was a play).

Right now rereading Passenger (Passenger, #1) by Alexandra Bracken --loving it!

Also reading Impulse (Impulse, #1) by Ellen Hopkins , good so far, and going to start Career of Evil (Cormoran Strike, #3) by Robert Galbraith which I'm super excited about!

BookThief | 4 comments I'm reading The Lord of the Rings!! or trying to. I didn't add it to my currently reading cuz I don't know if I'll read it completely or dnf it. Also there's a lot of Hobbit talk going on in this, should I read that first?

I LOVE the William Shakespeare's Star Wars books. They are so clever. :)

Elora Mitchell | 578 comments I just finished Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline and it was REALLY good. Definitely a character driven book, but it was a delight to read.

I also read The Dark Days Club (Lady Helen, #1) by Alison Goodman which was a lot of fun to read--Jane Austen meets X-Men.

I am not that far into the book, but it does not take long for it to get into the plot, which is what I enjoy in a book.

JENNY: Just picked up Passenger. So far so good. Not that far into it, but enjoying it.

VIDYA: You don't necessarily need to read The Hobbit to understand LOTR, but it doesn't hurt either. You get to understand how Bilbo acquired the ring. I haven't read the whole of LOTR too, but it I heard it takes awhile to get into the book, especially the first one.

Sorry for disappearing again. :P I've still been in a bit of a reading slump, but right now I'm making my way through:

The Inexplicable Logic of My Life by Benjamin Alire Sáenz

Which is really lovely!

I also am about halfway through:

The City's Son (The Skyscraper Throne, #1) by Tom Pollock

I'd never heard of this one before; I bought it used at the library about a year ago and never got around to reading it until now. But so far, it's really cool! Kind of surreal/bizarre but that's something I personally enjoy, lol.

Uhhh and I also started reading this manga series, My Hero Academia, which is great so far! I've read the first two volumes:

僕のヒーローアカデミア 1 Boku No Hero Academia 1 (My Hero Academia, #1) by Kohei Horikoshi 僕のヒーローアカデミア 2 Boku No Hero Academia 2 (My Hero Academia, #2) by Kohei Horikoshi

And I'm working on the third one. ;)

BRIGID: I know how you feel. My slump is strong and steady since April. Nice to see you again tho!

Just finished reading...
Passenger (Passenger, #1) by Alexandra Bracken

I really enjoyed it. Can't wait to read the last book

Currently Reading...
The Lost Hero The Graphic Novel (The Heroes of Olympus The Graphic Novels, #1) by Rick Riordan

Saw that they're available on Overdrive so thought I should check it out. I recently read the companion graphic novel of Marissa Meyer, Wires and Nerve, centering on the story of Iko. Really enjoyed it and been wanting to read more graphic novels. So might as well try a story I previously enjoyed.

I had been wondering that myself. Thank you for clearing up the confusion. My current book, btw, is Warcross (Warcross, #1) by Marie Lu . I am a little ways in, and I already love it.

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments I just finished Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson 5 stars

I seriously just read this almost 500 page book in one sitting. And I swear I cried straight through the last 70 pages or so. An amazing read. Just amazing.

Next, I'm working on a read for review of OCEANS The Anthology (The Speculative Fiction Collection Book 2) by Ken Liu and I think I'm also going to be reading Royal Bastards (Royal Bastards, #1) by Andrew Shvarts

I'm looking forward to finishing it. I bought it the day it came out, because I also bought my father's birthday gift that day, because both were released on the 12th, and am hoping that it was well worth the read. I've heard great things about it as well.

message 1182: by Ashley Marie (new)

Ashley Marie Oh gosh I haven't posted here in forever. Sorry friends!

I've gotten back to the Unbeatable Squirrel Girl comics, which are fantastic and all sorts of empowering and uplifting if you need a quick shot of something funny and positive.

Also reading Jean Craighead George's final book, ICE WHALE. I adored the Julie of the Wolves trilogy as a kid (I can't tell you how many times I've read those) and I just found out about this one a few years ago.

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments I finished Royal Bastards (Royal Bastards, #1) by Andrew Shvarts 4 solid stars. I really enjoyed this fantasy!

CAITLIN: Just finished reading Warcross, and I really enjoyed it. That ending tho....!

Also finished read...
The Breakdown by B.A. Paris

A great thriller for October!

Currently Reading...
Death by Tiara (A Jaine Austen Mystery #13) by Laura Levine

Literally just started so no opinions yet. It's the 13th book in the series, her books tend to be similar to each other, but still enjoyable.

I'm doing a mini binge read cause I need to make up for lost times!

My reading progress for 2017 has been atr Wouldn't It Be Deadly (Eliza Doolittle & Henry Higgins Mystery, #1) by D.E. Ireland ocious so my plan is to step up my game in 2018. Right now all I am reading is cozies. I am listening to Wouldn't It Be Deadly - as a My Fair Lady fan this is a little weird for me but I am reserving judgement until the end. I am also reading Murder Boogies with Elvis Murder Boogies with Elvis (Southern Sisters, #8) by Anne George . It is the last book in the series before the author died :(

The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #1

She's part of the Marvel universe, yes. She originally debuted in 1992 (I think?) and I think she's gone through a few iterations since. Tony Stark is basically her idol and it's perfect. This series is her first standalone comic series (and actually the first time I've ever read her at all) and I'm so in love. She's empowering and hilarious and kicks butt. Also SQUIRRELS <3
