Ashley Marie Plus I'm going back tonight to get books 5-8 in the Death Note series. I'm trying to prioritize City of Stairs bc it's the one I've at least started so far, but it's SO HARD with all these pretties <33

I hope you love THUG, Elora!

message 1102: by Elora (new)

Elora Mitchell | 578 comments Holy cow, Ashley. You're gonna have to be dug out of your TBR pile!
I plan to enjoy THUG. :)
I've heard nothing but GREAT things about it.

message 1103: by Elora (new)

Elora Mitchell | 578 comments ...although enjoy might be the wrong word. I heard that it's emotionally wrecking.

message 1104: by Ashley Marie (new)

Ashley Marie I'm not worried about the manga because I can tear through one or more a day (plus there's only 12 in this series). The novels though... yikes. Hahaha!

Do Not Disturb (Deanna Madden, #2) by A.R. Torre

Just finished reading this and I'm so surprise that I actually enjoyed the book. Erotic Thriller is not really something I pick up casually. The first book is really different and unique.

Elora Mitchell | 578 comments So I just finished The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
I can't even begin to express how phenomenally good this book is!!

message 1107: by Ashley Marie (new)

Ashley Marie YAAAAAAAAAAAAS <333333

AND Angie's working on book 2!!

*explodes from excitement*

I'm reading Amy Schumer's The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo by Amy Schumer today and looooving it

I LOVED Carve the Mark. It starts out a little slow and is slightly strange (it's REALLY scifi) but it's so amazing. And Caraval was really incredible too!

(Hi I'm new too 😄)

Elora Mitchell | 578 comments I just finished American Housewife by Helen Ellis and it was quite funny--in a darkly humorous sort of way.
I found it a quite relaxing and fun read. Heidi, you may like this one. It's not a cozy, but it was quite pleasant. :)

Hey sorry I've been bad at checking in (again, lol) but recently I finished:

The Foxhole Court (All for the Game, #1) by Nora Sakavic

It was ... pretty good. Had some mixed feelings about it, but I enjoyed it over all. And I was intrigued enough that I might try to read the sequels.

Right now I'm reading:

A Note of Madness (Flynn Laukonen, #1) by Tabitha Suzuma

I like it, although it's a bit ... repetitive?? There isn't much of a plot, but it does a good job capturing what it's like to put a lot of pressure on yourself as an artist, and how anxiety/depression relate to that, etc.

Also today I'm supposed to get in the mail:

The Dark Prophecy (The Trials of Apollo, #2) by Rick Riordan

!!! AAAHHH !!! I'm excited! :D

message 1126: by [deleted user] (new)

lucky lucky you brigid.

cant wait to get my hands on that myself

message 1127: by Ashley Marie (new)

Ashley Marie I've really been slacking on Rick Riordan books -- I still need to read Trials of Apollo and Magnus Chase!

Speaking of book mail, Half-Resurrection Blues (Bone Street Rumba, #1) by Daniel José Older just came today! I loved SHADOWSHAPER so I had to pounce on this.

I've read the first and second, the third isn't out yet I don't think. But no, the 2nd book goes off in a completely different direction. You'll understand when you get to the end.

Ashley Marie Currently:

Shades of Grey (Shades of Grey #1) by Jasper Fforde The Girl from Everywhere (The Girl from Everywhere, #1) by Heidi Heilig Stalking Jack the Ripper (Stalking Jack the Ripper, #1) by Kerri Maniscalco

Really enjoying all three. Shades is my first Fforde book in a few years and his imagination is utterly incredible. Girl from Everywhere is really interesting because I usually don't pick up time-travel books. Jack the Ripper is fascinating and I'm loving the Gothic vibe.
