Ashley Marie I'm reading a lot of non-YA right now --

I just finished Hunting Ground (Alpha & Omega, #2) by Patricia Briggs and I'm going to start Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman tomorrow

Also Mary Reilly by Valerie Martin The Laramie Project by Moisés Kaufman Danse Macabre by Stephen King

And then I still need to get back to The Naming (Pellinor, #1) by Alison Croggon

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments Right now I'm in the middle of so many books! First, I'm finishing up a very awesome beta read! Then I'm reading Their Fractured Light (Starbound, #3) by Amie Kaufman with Karen (so good!) Also reading Carry On by Rainbow Rowell which started off slow for me, but I'm starting to really get into it now! Also rereading The Raven Boys (The Raven Cycle, #1) by Maggie Stiefvater

On my Kindle I'm reading The Bone Readers by Jacob Ross for my Around the World challenge. Not sure what I think yet, this is a mystery/thriller set in Grenada.

And listening to Geek Girl (Geek Girl, #1) by Holly Smale on audio. And loving this one!

Oh, and I'm finishing up Hamilton The Revolution by Lin-Manuel Miranda . This has all the lyrics to all the songs, but also has a lot of background info on how Hamilton was made, from conception to finish. Really really interesting. And I've been listening to he Spotify soundtrack while I read :)

Awesome!! I opted for the CD. The cassette player in my car is iffy at best. But I loved that he did that. So much fun!

And yay Jenny! What do you think of the music???

Caitlin Mcnamee (alanna-sama) | 51 comments Currently, I am reading Caraval (Caraval, #1) by Stephanie Garber , and have not quite got to the part where the sisters are actually in Caraval, but it is well worth the buy. It is one of 16 books I picked up this month.

I adored Carry On - I listened to it one audio and loved the narrator so I think that helped my rating. I know not everyone liked that book but I really enjoyed it for some reason. It was like a mix between Eleanor & Park and Harry Potter with a little Will Grayson Will Grayson mixed in :)

That's awesome! I fell in love with the music by song 2. I've been pushing it on everyone I know. Most turn away as soon as I mention hip hop. "You mean it's about the founding father's and it contains hip hop and rap???" Oh well. :/

message 1014: by Jenny (new)

Isn't it?? I'm sure they'd like it if they'd give it a chance, but they have no interest. Oh well. :(
P.S. I may have to just disown them. haha. :)

message 1017: by [deleted user] (new)

finished Victory of Eagles (Temeraire, #5) by Naomi Novik moving on to The Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove (Pine Cove, #2) by Christopher Moore

message 1018: by Steen (new)

Steen Jones (steenjones) Y'all should check out The Door Keeper! It's a new adult fantasy novel but with a YA format. I'm a little bias considering I wrote it, but I'd love some feedback! Looking to improve moving forward.

I have been a little overly obsessed with politics and AM radio lately but I am still plugging away at Front Lines Front Lines (Front Lines, #1) by Michael Grant on audiobook as well 2-3 cozies in print and on my kindle.

plus rereading The Lies of Locke Lamora (Gentleman Bastard, #1) by Scott Lynch His Majesty's Dragon (Temeraire, #1) by Naomi Novik

message 1024: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments Okay, over the weekend I finished February Fever by Jess Lourey which was a cute cozy mystery, very funny. Also finished Attachments by Rainbow Rowell which was just adorable, and Ever the Hunted (Clash of Kingdoms, #1) by Erin Summerill which I really liked.

Right now reading Let It Snow Three Holiday Romances by John Green which is cute so far, and Every Last Word by Tamara Ireland Stone which I don't know what I think yet (pretty early on in the book. ) Also going to be starting The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen soon.

message 1025: by Jen from Quebec :0) (new)

Jen from Quebec :0) (muppetbaby99) I am currently (as always) reading over 10 books at a time, but I am MOSTLY into Slammerkin by Emma Donoghue at the moment. It is very deeply engrossing and is taking over my other readings, currently. I will not be able to jump between my other books until this one is finished- which it soon will be!! --Jen from Quebec :0)

Ashley Marie Blew through The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas in one sitting last night

message 1029: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments Finished Let It Snow Three Holiday Romances by John Green and it was pretty cute. Every Last Word by Tamara Ireland Stone was really good and I liked it. It had a great twist (although I figured it out) Also finished The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen and I liked it, classic Sarah Dessen.

Right now I'm reading Eighty Days Nellie Bly and Elizabeth Bisland's History-Making Race Around the World by Matthew Goodman and so far this is a really interesting look at women's journalism in the late 1800s. These women were BRAVE!

Also reading Lady Midnight (The Dark Artifices, #1) by Cassandra Clare and loving it!

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments It is really awesome so far! Its really a YA Paranormal mystery in some ways, but it feels so FRESH AND ORIGINAL, I can't think of anything to compare it to! Love the writing in it so far. I'm about halfway through it.

Elora Mitchell | 578 comments So I've read a TON of stuff recently (I'll put a link to my blog when it's up), but I read A List of Cages yesterday. It was FANTASTIC!
One of those rare ya books that sees parents as awesome. Warning: it will pull at every heartstring you have and contains graphic physical abuse.

message 1048: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
I am not a parent so it is not necessarily that you that way because you have children : ) I get so tired of either the "absent parent" in YA books or the "clueless parent" that I am always so happy to see well written three dimensional parents when I see them.

message 1049: by Elora (new)

Elora Mitchell | 578 comments Excellent point!

message 1050: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments I really want to read that book! I agree, I love seeing well written parents. Its a gem in a YA book!

Although I do have to admit, if you are looking at parents through a teen's eyes (which in most YA we are) I wouldn't expect to see "reality." Teens and parents misunderstand each other constantly, its just a part of life. So while the parents may not be bad in a lot of cases, it comes across that way because that's how the MC of the book is seeing them.
