p.s. I am a little worried that I am going to have the same visceral reaction to Blood For Blood as I am with HP7 based on the US's current politics.

message 852: by Ashley Marie (new)

Ashley Marie I'm on track to finish it today and I'm loving it -- it's got a bit of a Hunger Games-take-down-the-Capital vibe in this book, more political whereas WbW dealt mostly with the Axis Tour race itself.

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments Are there just the two main books in the Wolf by Wolf series?

message 854: by Becky (new)

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments Good to hear that the Monstrumologist series gets even better. I know many people really liked it so I was a bit worried when I got a little bored at times with the first book.

I'm hoping to get Six of Crows for Christmas, too. I'm surprised that my library doesn't carry those. But it does have The Raven Boys, so maybe I'll work on that series in the meantime.

BECKY: I believe Wolf by Wolf is going to be a duology. So yes, Blood for Blood is the last book.

I just bought Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom a few weeks ago and will most likely read them next year.

I have read and finished...
Winter (The Lunar Chronicles, #4) by Marissa Meyer

It is by far my favorite book in the series. I love the whole book from the beginning to the end. I have to say Cinder finally grew on me, but I still prefer Scarlet. I'm not really sure how I feel about Winter and Jacin, but either way I still really loved it!

Started reading...
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Millennium, #1) by Stieg Larsson

Just in the first few chapters. It's holding my interest so that's something.

message 858: by Ashley Marie (new)

Ashley Marie Scarlet's still my favorite too! <3

Ahhhh I loved the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo books! And the Swedish film adaptations are AH. MAZE. ING.

I was a Scarlet fan throughout but I like my heroines like her in general. Loved GWTDT as well and highly recommend it on audio! I will say I think because the author died before the series was released they did not edit the books as much as they could have IMO so at times them meander into political stuff so I would get lost for awhile but I loved it despite that.

message 860: by Ashley Marie (new)

Ashley Marie Yeah the writing is a bit dry and could've used an editor, but I loved Simon Vance reading them <3

Finished...
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Millennium, #1) by Stieg Larsson The Wide Window (A Series of Unfortunate Events, #3) by Lemony Snicket
Really enjoyed the first and re-reading the whole series of the second.

Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was overly descriptive and at times it did get to me, but overall I actually really enjoyed the book. I'm not really the type to delve on books with this kind of topic, but I still enjoyed my reading experience.

Jen from Quebec :0) (muppetbaby99) The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is one of those rare books that I actually did NOT ever finish....didn't grip me at all. I LOVE Swedish authors, usually, as well. Anyone ever read 'The Room' by Jonas Karlson? (Karllsson?)
The Room only just begun, but great so far....also reading Beyond Belief: My Secret Life Inside Scientology and My Harrowing Escape which is one of the best 'breaking out of a religion' type books I've read and...
also reading the poignant, well read (audio version) of Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis This book speaks to me personally as a person living in a 'hillbilly' type area- these are MY people!

GWTDT really needed an editor. Book 2 is my favorite BTW.

HEY GUYS. I'm so so so sorry I haven't checked in on this group in like ..... more than a month. I've been like insanely busy (I got a new job so I'm working 20+ more hours a week than I used to, lol. Plus I went to Europe!!) and also .... mental stuff, but don't worry I'm okay lol. I've just been like hyperfixating on other things recently and I've been neglecting Goodreads/reading which I feel really bad about.

So yeah ummm I don't know if I even read anything in November, it was kind of a whirlwind month for me because new job/traveling/NaNoWriMo. But I just got from the library:

The Hammer of Thor (Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, #2) by Rick Riordan

Which I'm excited to read!

I'm definitely not going to make my reading goal for the year. I fell wayyy off track. But ah well, I'm glad to at least be picking up a book again, lol.

So far I love Matthew Quick Brigid - hope that opinion sticks with this read :)

I forgot to add that besides Forgive Me Leonard Peacock I am reading Elora's book Redemption Redemption by Elora Mitchell . I am not able to adjust the font size for some reason so it is very small print so I am only able to read a few pages at a time but so far I like it a lot :)

Elora Mitchell | 578 comments Had to DNF The Rose Society (The Young Elites, #2) by Marie Lu
I didn't like the first one much when I read it, but I decided to give the series another try because it's all popular right now. I loved her Legend series but something about the writing style in this one is off-putting to me.

Trying American Gods (American Gods, #1) by Neil Gaiman
It's a lot more adult than what I normally read, which makes me uncomfortable in certain scenes. But the book is quite dark, and I'm not sure exactly what is going on, but it is interesting nonetheless.

Elora I skipped the Young Elites series because I have not heard good things about it

Kindle put a lot of good books on sale ^_^

since I was able to meet my Goodreads goal this year, I decided to celebrate by not reading any books on December, plus I'm on a bit of a reading slump. Tried picking up a few books, but not that interested....booooo....

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments I started and finished Untamed (Unbeautiful, #2) by Jessica Sorensen tonight. Not a bad read, a little cliched and not all that believable, but entertaining! It gave me my U book for the ABC challenge, and also finished a series for me though :)

Karen’s Library | 574 comments I had started Heartless by Marissa Meyer but my granddaughter confiscated it tonight. ;) I was happy about it though; anything to ensure she's reading. I've had my eye on a signed copy so I'll replace it soon. Granddaughter and I met Marissa Meyer when her Fairest came out and she loves Alice in Wonderland!

I'm also working on Avalon (Avalon, #1) by Mindee Arnett and almost finished with David's Water & Storm Country (The Country Saga, #3) by David Estes on audio! Really loving Kate Rudd's performance!
