AquaMoon (aqua_moon) | 12 comments Been trying to recall a book I had as a kid. Here's what I remember:

It was a fantasy book about a castle kitchen boy and a runaway girl. The boy was washing a giant metal platter and saw the girl reflected in it as she hid in the kitchen. She convinced him to go on a quest with her, although I don't remember what the quest was. Iner-mixed with the text were mazes and crosswords and other puzzles/riddles for the reader to solve. I think the girl may have actually been a princess. The cover had a drawing of a dark-haired boy and blond girl in a red dress riding a unicorn.

Any hints? It was NOT a Choose Your Own Adventure, but might have been similar.

Amanda (misterfive) | 215 comments Maybe one of the Usborne Fantasy Puzzle series? I didn't see the cover you mentioned in a quick search but the general set up of them matches.

Following up on Amanda's suggestion, The Usborne Big Book of Fantasy Quests (2005) or King Arthurs Knight Quest (2005) by Andy Dixon? Here's an older one: "Sword Quest" (1997) - http://www.worldcat.org/title/sword-q...

Alissa, what year did you read this book?

Hi Kris.
Sometime in the early to mid 1980s. It may have been something I got at a school book fair. It was a book I had as a child and It's been driving me crazy trying to remember it.

AquaMoon (aqua_moon) | 12 comments One particular puzzle I remember from this book is a Celtic Knot Maze that was way beyond the difficulty level of the other puzzles in the book. The characters had to solve it before they could move through some sort of gateway (I remember looking at the answer key in back so I could figure it out).
