This week I read four books. So, here's what I read, along with my book reviews. The Gate
by D.L. Cross
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is a fantastic fast-paced and action packed read, with some great characters, and a plot that explores some interesting legends and theories.
The Scout: Dark Crossings
by D.L. Cross
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is an excellent short read for fans of the kind of sci-fi stories involving aliens, with a delightful twist. Highly recommended.
Silvery Earth Kids and Related Short Stories
by Barbara G. Tarn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
It was fantastic to get to read an accessable version of the strips I'd been hearing about on the author's blog, and I enjoyed them very much. The bonus
stories were a great addition as well, and I also enjoyed reading those. I always love reading stories from this world, and meeting all the characters
from the various races - magical and otherwise - and these were no exception.
Magical Friends
by Barbara G. Tarn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is an excellent book in its own right, but even better in my opinion for allowing us to find out what happens to the characters we learned to love
in "Silvery Earth Kids" years later.
Finished Ninth House, which I found to be meh. Started Truly Devious but not far enough to decide if I like it or not.
A long way to a small angry planet by becky chambers
This week I read three books, all of which were by the same author. In fact, they're all part of the same series; I'd read the first in the series before, so the first one mentioned here is book 2. Anyway, here's what I read, along with my book reviews.Wanderlust
by Barbara G. Tarn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is an interesting and action-packed book, which is a great continuation of the series. I look forward to reading more about these characters.
Across Continents
by Barbara G. Tarn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is an excellent addition to this series, perfect for people who like to read books about the future results of appocalyptic events. I'm enjoying following these characters on their adventures.
Himalayas
by Barbara G. Tarn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is another excellent addition to the series, and a fantastic read in it's own right. The worldbuilding is very well done, and the characters - human and otherwise - are wel-rounded. I'm enjoying seeing how they're evolving and their relationships are developing throughout the series, and look forward to the next book.

Well that’s good Victoria and Victoria I’ve been reading a lot too because I’ve been stuck in the house a lot

As we wrap up January it looks like I'll have finished 16 books this month - 9 if I don't count rereads (I'm doing a full series reread of Animorphs, so it's jacking my total up much higher than usual), but I'm pleased regardless. I've read a bunch of new (to me) authors and a handful of things on my owned backlog. I'm still irritated because my Overdrive no longer works at the office (although it works at home - where I don't listen to audiobooks) but I've gotten by with Hoopla and books on disc.
I just finished Lisa See's The Island of Sea Women this afternoon and adored it.
Finished Truly Devious, wasn't sure about it at first but it got really good towards the end. I have my hunches, I checked out The Vanishing Stair from the library so we'll see if I'm right. Started Bloodleaf after that, which is interesting so far not a whole lot going on, but it has my attention.
