SOLVED. Boy goes blind, gets guide dog, 1960's

I read this as a child, about a young boy who goes blind, and ends up getting a guide dog. From what I remember it was written in first person, but of course memory is fallable.

Any thoughts?

True. Moderators probably didn't start adding "SOLVED." to the beginning of topic headers until sometime after this date.
