Phase 10 Challenge

Hey guys!! So I was sitting around trying to come up with an idea for our first group challenge, and I came up with a challenge based on the game Phase 10.

Phase 10 is a card game named after the ten phases that the players must advance through in order to win. There are 96 numbered cards: two of each value from 1 through 12 in each of the four colors (red, yellow, blue, green); 8 wild cards; and 4 skip cards. The phases are completed in order through sets, runs and color combinations.

A set is composed of two or more cards of any color, depending on the phase.

A run is composed of three or more cards of any color in numbered order, depending on the phase.

For this challenge:
*The Phases do not have to be completed in order
*The skip cards will not be used
*Everyone will get 8 wild cards, but only one can be used per phase. Since there are 10 phases that means that you will only be able to use one wild on 8 out of the 10 phases.

This challenge will begin April 1st and end December 31st.

The Cards

Color cards

To obtain a card of a specific color for your numbered card, you must read a book from the list that represents that color

Red cards: The Movie was Better than the Book
Blue cards: Popular 5 Stars Books
Yellow cards: Popular Favorites Books
Green cards: Judge A Book By Its Cover!

Number cards

To obtain a number card, you must read a book from one of the lists above and that meets the criteria for the specific number.

One:
*1st in the series
*Title starts with O
*Author first or last name starts with O
*Character name starts O
*Place starts with O

Two:
*2nd in the series
*Title starts with T
*Author first or last name starts with T
*Character name starts T
*Place starts with T

Three:
*3rd in the series
*Title starts with R
*Author first or last name starts with R
*Character name starts R
*Place starts with R

Four:
*4th in the series
*Title starts with F
*Author first or last name starts with F
*Character name starts F
*Place starts with F

Five:
*5th in the series
*Title starts with A
*Author first or last name starts with A
*Character name starts A
*Place starts with A

Six:
*6th in the series
*Title starts with S
*Author first or last name starts with S
*Character name starts S
*Place starts with S

Seven:
*7th in the series
*Title starts with H
*Author first or last name starts with H

Eight:

Wild cards

There will be 8 wild cards. You can use one wild card per phase. For the wild card you can read any book from one of the lists or any book that meets the criteria for one of the number cards (meaning it doesn't have to be on one of the lists).

Phase Two: One set of three cards + One run of four cards

Phase Three: One set of four cards + One run of four cards

Phase Four: One run of seven cards

Phase Five: One run of eight cards

Phase Six: One run of nine cards

Phase Seven: Two sets of four cards

Phase Eight: Seven cards of one color

Phase Nine: One set of five cards + One set of two cards

Phase Ten: One set of five cards + One set of three cards

***For more of a challenge you can: (1) make the sets be the same color, (2) make the sets be the same number, or (3) make the sets the same color and same number (can vary by phase)***
