Marked in Flesh by Anne Bishop
Read: May 16th-May 20th
Pages: 399 pages
Ratings: 4 stars
Review: Marked in Flesh is the fourth book in The Others series and concludes the race escalation between The Others and the terra indigen that has been brewing in the previous books.
Overall, I enjoyed this latest version: but there were so many different individuals across many developments I missed the courtyard intimacy. We don’t get to see much of Meg, Simon and Sam in this edition and I found that I missed their interaction. Frankly, Marked in Flesh didn’t push the characters forward as much as resolving The Others and the human’s First movement.
This series will continue to be a must read for me, but I’m hoping we can concentrate on the characters in the future and not on the entire world.

Jennifer ~ Brotherhood in Death by JD Robb (5/19)
Sherri ~ Marked in Flesh by Anne Bishop (5/20)
Kelsi ~ Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier (5/18)
Nichole ~ Feed by Mira Grant (5/15)
Completed Shelf #9: Series to Start
by Deanna Raybourn
Completed: 5/22/16
Rated: 4.5 stars
This book was fantastic! I did not want to put it down once I started. It was pretty much non-stop rollercoaster adventure from the first chapter on. I loved both of the main characters, Veronica and Stoker. They were both stubborn and obstinate and were almost always at odds, making for some fantastic witty British banter throughout the story. With a combination of mystery, Victorian era historical fiction, adventure, and humor, this book is definitely a winner. Can't wait to read the next one!

Awesome! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did :)
Realized I put the wrong date in, I finished it last night (5/22). I have edited my post to change it.

This book (series) is almost impossible to review. I can't properly explain other than to say it has a dreamlike quality to it. This book even more so than the rest of the series. Just like in a dream, you are a character in the story. You become the person and yet still see things as if you were just an observer. When you finally start to grasp everything and make sense of what's really happening- you wake up! Have you ever had a vivid dream that you had to tell someone about, only to find that you can't find a single word to properly describe it? That's this series.
This book takes us back to the beginning and completes the cycle. It began on the corpse road and it ended on the corpse road and everything that happened was how it was always supposed to happen. It's the characters that make it so special. I highly recommend this series. The writing is beautiful and the audio narration was perfect.

Good Job!! :D

The Diviners by Libba Bray
Finished: 5/24/16
Rating: ♥♥♥♥
It's rare to find a YA book with a strong, fleshed-out protagonist. In the Diviners, Libba Bray manages to not only warm hearts and tickle toes with her main character Evie, but she also brilliantly manages to serve up an entire cast of well-rounded, colorful characters. Don't let the synopsis fool you - this isn't just Evie O'Neill's story - Diviners is the story of Theta, a Ziegfield dancer dancer with a dark past, Mabel, a shy girl overpowered by her activist parents, Memphis, a Harlem boy with a finger in everything, Sam, a pit-pocket with a penchant for pretty things, Uncle Will, an academic and owner of the Creepy-Crawly museum, and Jericho, his reticent assistant with a shocking secret.
For me, these intriguing character actually surpass the enticement of the occult mass murders happening through the duration of the novel. Not to say Bray hasn't concocted an engaging and incredibly well-researched plot, but personally, the plots itself lays in the shadows of this brilliant cast.
I'm very eager to read more of this series and find out what happens to my new favorite characters. Well done, Libba Bray. You've certainly got me hooked.
Decided to read something different.
Completed Shelf #10: Paranormal Suspense
by Ilona Andrews
Completed: 5/29/16

I am so glad I finally started this series! Kate is a great character and I really liked the concept of a world torn by magic and technology. I liked the touch of mystery thrown in too, it reminded me a bit of the Harry Dresden series but different enough that it was still entertaining.

My other reading challenge ended and I was using Between the Devil and Ian Eversea for that one and not creating additional books to read.
But I did start Marked in Flesh after the shelf was called and since it can be used for that one (TY to those 19 people who shelved it) I'm going to switch.
