Good Job!! :D

Btw, I added

Well, Grave Peril is on hold. I think I'll watch some tv with the husband for tonight and see what I feel like tomorrow.

Loved the Nalini Singh one.

Thanks for the all the good wishes. He was discharged over the weekend and things are looking great. :-)

And as per my usual, I went with something completely different than my list, lol.

Shelf announcements will be one hour earlier for at least the next 2 weeks, starting this week.
If I can get out of Jury Duty in May, they will continue at the new time. If Judith has to do the announcements during May they will probably go back an hour.
We'll let you know of any changes, as we find out.

I have a good idea what I'm going to read but I'm going to finish my current book first. My mood might change before then, lol.
Yes lol that's pretty much the reason for the change. I could probably fit both books in but am feeling a bit bogged down with reading right now.

Wow that is awesome! I am waiting for that one to come in at my library. Can't wait!
Completed Shelf #5: Urban Fantasy
Iron Kissed by Patricia Briggs
Completed: 4/24/16
Rated: 4.5 stars
This book is, in my opinion, the best in the series so far. I enjoyed the first one but this one has left me wanting more! I might have to run out and get the next one lol. I really enjoyed the fae storyline. I like series like this that don't just have one type of creature like vampires or werewolves, but touch on many different creatures. It keeps me intrigued and always wanting to learn more about the world. Super happy to see the end of the Samual-Mercy-Adam love triangle too. I am not a big fan of love triangles in general. It is possible (even probable) that she will continue to have feelings for the other man, but at least she has made a choice now! Overall, I am really glad I decided to read this one now, it had me hanging on every word!

The Beast by JR Ward
Finished: 4/25/16
Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥
As usual, JR Ward wrote a wonderful book and I loved it. I hate to get to the end of the book. I love her style of writing and anything BDB is tops in my book. I loved how Rhage showed his soft side and his love for Bitty. It was so sweet. I also love the sense of humor the boys have and how they can carry out a joke. Then there's the twins being born and the miracle of that. She left several thing open for her next book but then she usually does. Now I have to wait until Dec. for the next BDB book. She never lets me down!!!

Jane is sent to North Carolina as bodyguard/security for a vampire parley between Lincoln Shaddock and Gregoire. Lincoln is applying to Leo to become Master of the City in Asheville. However, he left out a few details and Jane soon finds herself in a hotspot with weres, witches, vamps and the local police.
I heart this series, I really do. Each book is action packed with a few things happening at the same time and somehow Jane manages to be in the center of it all. At times, this drives me crazy because Jane takes on so much guilt for everything--even when it's completely out of her control or really has nothing to do with her. But then, I guess, it wouldn't be so satisfying when she/Beast decides to kick some butt!
Her co-existence with Beast is what makes this series stand out from others like it. Jane is a skinwalker and Beast is a part of her. Most of the time Beast lets Jane be Alpha and deal with day to day but when Jane is threatened Beast is glad to take over. Beast sees things more clearly sometimes, in a more basic light that Jane often overlooks. She's also a bit of a horndog (horncat?) when Jane crosses paths with a strong Alpha male. It makes for some pretty funny moments.
There was a whole lot going down in this installment and it seems like nobody comes out unscathed. What kind of repercussions will Jane and her chain of guilt face next? When will we learn more about Jane's past? What happens with Ricky Bo now? What about that healing, huh? I'm pretty sure something is up with that! It sets up nicely for the next book and I'm eager to read it.

As many of you may remember I was facing Jury Duty for May. I've been excused on the grounds of pathetic public transport & the 2.3km (I think about 1.5 miles) walk to my nearest bus stop. Yay!
So, I will continue to post the shelf announcements and Judithe is off the hook.
Saying that, do you want them to be at this time or 1 hour earlier, in whichever time zone you are? Please comment either way in the discussion thread.

Because of Miss Bridgerton by Julia Quinn
Rating: 4 Stars
Read: 4/18/16 - 4/28/16
Review: The start of a new series from Julia Quinn, one of my favorite historical romance writers. This series appears to be about the previous generation of Bridgertons (Billie is Edmunds sister if you follow the series).
This story involves Billie (Miss Bridgerton) and George (Rokesby). Billie is likeable but impetuous, headstrong and a bit spoiled. George is responsible, conservator and always thinks before he acts. They are perfect opposites of each other and although they grew up together have always been antagonists of each other. Hence the perfect setup for a historical romance.
George's rescue of Billie begins the transformation of their relationship and along the way they slowly begin to develop feelings for each other. Throw in a house party and a wicked Pall Mall game (i.e. croquet to me) and the two begin to deepen their friendship.
Overall, this was a fun, light-hearted read that was just enjoyable to read.

Nice Girls Don't Date Dead Men by Molly Harper
Rating: 3.5 Stars
Read: 4/13/16 - 4/18/16
Review: Vampire humor books are another favorite of mine and the Jane Jameson series is definelty a fun one. I'm torn about where to put this book in rlelation to the first book, Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs. I like Jane better in Nice Girls Don't Date Dead Men than I did in Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs. She is more in charge of her life and her life as a vampire and that is what is best about NGDDDM.
What almost had me throwing in the towel on NGDDDM was the Zeb and Jolene drama; in particular Mama Joyce and her protestations that she knew what was best for Zeb and Jane was it - not Jolene. It was SO over the top that it adversely affected the book for me. I like a little crazy, but too much crazy is CRAZY!
There were a couple of loose threads that I'm assuming will be tied up in Nice Girls Don't Live Forever and with the nightmare wedding out of the way I'm hoping it will be better.

This Shattered World by Amie Kaufman
Finished: 5/3/16
Rating: ♥♥♥
The audiobook had an annoying whisper/chant at the beginning of each chapter that didn't reveal why the whisper/chant was there in the first place. The premise of this book is that it is part of an obvious trilogy. The plot was decent once you could figure it out. Narration/sound was good, story was all right, character development was lacking, a little below average. Descriptive writing was above average. Wish the author could have done the same with the characters.

OK, I screwed this up. Instead of Raphael, I am reading Jabril. It is shelved as Urban Fantasy 44 times.

I hate when they try and add sound bites to the audiobooks. It seems kinda cheesy to me.

Phèdre nó Delaunay was born with a red mote in her eye known as Kushiel's Dart that marks her as a true Masochist. Phèdre was sold into indentured service as a young girl and is trained as a Courtesan as well as a spy. When she learns of a treacherous plot against the crown and those she loves, her life takes a dangerous turn that takes her far from home.
There is far too much for me to go into a long review without making a mess of it. Let me just say that it is full of political intrigue, religion, war, death, betrayal and everything that goes with these types of books. *Ahem, GoT*
I listened to the audiobook and it was very well narrated by Anne Flosnik. I'm not sure I would have gotten through it had I been reading it. Like I said, it's very long. For me, it took a little while to really get into it. Not to say that it wasn't interesting, it was, I was just ready for something to happen besides her assignations. And when things did start happening, I still had many hours ahead of me.
So, while I really enjoyed this, I think it will be a while before I pick up the next book. I like big books and I cannot lie... but I'm not ready for the next tome yet.
