A good book Karin!
A good book Karin!
Karin wrote: "I would like to nominate Snow Falling on Cedars byDavid Guterson a beautifully written book."I liked that one too, but I don't like rereading books. I have too many unread ones.
I'd like to nominate Desirable Daughters by Bharati Mukherjee. It's been on my shelf for ages and I've been dying to finally read it!

Shashi, we have a strict no self promotion policy in this group. Could you please remove the link to your book from your comment? Thank you.

The Swans of Fifth Avenue (I am not sure how widely available this is - it's quite a new book)
Dark Truth
House of Leaves
Desirable Daughters
The Shadow of the Crescent Moon
Please post in this thread if you would like to nominate or second any of the nominations above.
I know that The Swans of Fifth Avenue in hardcover is available for purchase from Amazon. Not sure about library availability.
Our library does have Swans but there is a very long list of people waiting for this. We have now bought more copies, but that could prove an obstacle for those who do not want to buy.
Greg wrote: "I'll nominate Gilead by Marilynne Robinson."That's a wonderful book, Greg! I've already read it but would have seconded it if I hadn't already seconded something.

I second this, been wanting to read it for ages.

Me, too.
The choice is going to be hard this month. So many good nominations/seconds.
I'll nominate When Saigon Surrendered: A Kentucky Mystery really good, and I would enjoy a group reading and discussion of this book.
I will second When Saigon Surrendered: A Kentucky Mystery Heard good things about this but haven't read it yet.
The poll to choose our May group fiction read is now open, and you can vote by clicking on the link below:https://www.goodreads.com/poll/list/1...
Please only vote if you intend to take part in the group read!
I've just seen that Angle of Repose is only £2.49 on iBooks currently. I have the Audible version already, which I listened to a couple of years ago, but I'm getting this one as well to read.

Nominations start today and will close on 26th March 2016.
During this time anybody can either nominate or second a book. The 6 books with the most second votes at the end of the 5 day nomination period will go into the poll. Each person can either nominate one book or second one book. There are no limits to the number of seconds a book can receive.
The poll will then run until the 31st March 2016 and the winner will be announced the following day. This will leave a month for people to get hold of the book in preparation for the read.
Please only nominate, second or vote for a book you will read with the group if it should win. Please also check that your chosen nomination hasn't been a group read in the past. You can do this by looking at the group bookshelf, contact one of the moderators or post on 'Ask the Moderators' thread
If you have any questions on the nominations process please contact me, use the 'Ask the Moderators' thread or post on here and we will be happy to help.
And don't forget - we will be reading Brick Lane by Monica Ali in April!
