I loved it. I cried like a baby. I also loved the characters. Stephenie really knows how to emphasize on their personalities and physical looks... its easy imagine yourself there, actually seeing and understanding the characters. You know?

The "thing" are called "Souls". They are implanted in human "Host" bodies. Once implanted, they have full control of the body. Wanderer (the main character) gets a difficult "host" body, Melanie. Melanie is still present in Wanderer's mind, which is not suppose to happen. Throughout the book you read the conflict between the two. It's complicated at first but Stephenie is great at what she does and you soon get the gist of it. I don't want to give too much away but as Wanderer tries to probe Melanie's thoughts to locate a group of human resistance, Melanie fills Wanderer with memories of her love, Jared. Melanie and Wanderer set off to try to find the "men" they both love. Great book :)

I got this book from the library, and i was really determined to read it. but i just couldnt get into it so i didnt read it. my friends say that its a good book but.....i just couldnt get into it.

In March 2008, Stephenie Meyer stated that a sequel to The Host was "almost done". She said in an interview that, if published, the first sequel would be entitled The Soul and the second The Seeker.

^Thats wat I found and also if you go on amazon and type in the host there a view with her talking about the host, at the end it says how shes going to write more to it because she can't let a story easy die.

I thought the Host was far better Twilight and was impressed with all the characters. I can't wait until the next one comes out! I'm looking forward to seeing if the human race takes over again and if they (we) will make all the same mistakes over again or if we learned a lesson...

I've read 'the host' twice! It's almost better the second time, eventhough I do love the whole mystery of reading books for the first time. I liked it so much that I just had to own it and I wouldn't trade it for anything. (unless if the author came over and asked for it herself, of course.)
