As one of these profiles is claimed, the author can put whatever text they like, in whatever wording they like on that profile - and they are the only ones who can edit it.
They should not be merged, because GR as a database records books as they were published, and of course users who own books published under the former name will be looking them up by that name. The books listed under either name can, at the authors discretion, have the other name listed second which looks to be the case here for the new books, but it's not required either.
I added "Previously wrote under the name ..." to the newer profile, which is nothing more than a statement of fact, and is about as sensitive as I can come up with. If you have better wording, do suggest it. Some people like to explain the apparent gender change, others don't want it pointed out explicitly and prefer to get on with their lives, so without the author actually asking keeping it simple is probably best.
The best in this (or really any, actually) situation would be if Juno claims the other profile too, and manages her own identity here.
