I read this book a few years ago, but I forgot about the date that it was published. I believe it is set in the late 80s to early 90s. I remember it pretty well, it's about a big family, and it's narrated by the only daughter. It tells of how they move, and how her mother is pregnant, and the pregnancy ends with the mother dying in childbirth on the daughter's birthday, and the daughter ending up with a new baby sister. I remember she was the oldest, and she had five or six younger brothers I believe, after that it explains of how she takes care of her family, and how her father is often tired after he comes home from work. I forgot what he did, but I believe a fire burn down their house or something like that near the end of the book. Sorry, I know this is vague, but I just remembered about this book, and it sounded really interesting. In advance for the help.

I think it was about 4 years ago. It was a stand alone novel. I'm pretty sure it took place in the south. Not sure about the cover.
