I'm interested too, Frannie. I think Netflix was through season 7. There is a Murdoch website (http://www.cbc.ca/murdochmysteries/ep...) and it looks like it has both season 8 and 9.

But wonderful day..."Oh, I know. My dad had a small family and we didn't get to see them much because they lived in the Bay Area in California and we live in Washington State.
But I loved seeing my grandpa on my mom's side. I was his first grandchild and I just lived for his hugs.
I was the first grandchild on my mother's side also. I got fussed on by all my aunts and uncles until my next eldest cousin was born 3 years later.I think children today miss out on a lot of lovely things we had. We had not computer games and such and we played with people and out in the sun or rain.
Frannie, first thank you for posting this notice I have been looking for season 9 all over I have Netflix but I know it only goes to season 7 I got rid of cable so I can't watch it on there anymore but I do have you tube. I watched the first two episodes in season 9 the first episode the sound is a little odd but the second episode looks just like it would if you were watching it on cable or Netflix
I can't find it on Netflix. Perhaps the series is not streaming to the UK yet. i think Netflix streams by region.
We need to get rid of these region things. Like on DVDs. I'd love to buy some things from Amazon.uk, but they'd never run over here. Sad news today, the composer/conductor Piere Boulez has died.

So has everyone gone back to work again? How do you feel to be at work after the long holiday season? For those members who are stay-at-home or retired, have your children gone back to school, or are you a grandparent who babysits your grandchildren while your children go back to work?
How do the days change for you after the holidays are over?
I am mostly retired. I find it a relief to be back to the routine. Time to read some the books I have stacked up!
I take my holidays at the year end. So I am having an extended holiday and will be back at work on the 18th. You guys are right. The holidays are great, but it is nice to get back to the routine.
I've been retired for a few years now, but looking to go back to work. Getting bored cooked up in the house.
Chris wrote: "I've been retired for a few years now, but looking to go back to work. Getting bored cooked up in the house."You know you can do freelance work from home using some online sites. The rates are not great though. Also AirBnB is a good way to earn good cash and meet interesting people.

Love it! So true. The Internet might be dumbing down the new generations and human progress.
Midwinter and it is turning cold. Brrr... Temperatures hovering around 0C/32F. We are likely to get snow in the South of England in the next couple of days.

One I read on our Facebook page: "I read not because I have renounced life, but because one life is not enough for me."
That is so true. I love inhabiting a character and living in his or her world for a few days at a time.
Good days for staying in a reading, Sherry.Anyone caught in the US east coast snowstorms? Do stay safe and warm.
We have not had any snow this year. Would love to see some pictures of snowy landscapes if you are having snow.

Hi Janet: I live near Philadelphia. We received about 24". Nearby Allentown received about 32". Started snowing Friday evening about 7PM and continued for about 24 hours. I thought about going out and taking some pictures but decided I'd rather stay in and finish the book I was reading. Spent the lunch hour yesterday and today digging out my car. Still January and I have had enough snow. Now the problem is the melting during the day and refreezing at night.

My sister in upstate New York got hit hard. Good thing they didn't lose power.
Hope everybody got through it without suffering too much. One of my friends slipped and fell in the snow and had to be rushed to the hospital from the hard bump to her head. We got the tail end of it over the past 3 days, but it had heated up and picked up moisture crossing the Atlantic. It was wild winds and rain for 3 days.
Now we are bracing for Henry, but we should be okay here in the southeast of England.

Sorry guys that I haven't stopped by and chat, I have been updated my reading log : Elizabeth's 2016 Reading Corner Challenges , if you want to check it out here's the link: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...And I'm of course doing our Dusty Book Shelf challenge, but as for doing this it's kind of hard to type, on January 17th , I ended up getting accidentally getting bite by my oldest dog , on my right hand, it's still healing, the bites have healed but I still got bruises on my wrist and on top of my hand, still hurts a little to.
So now that's out of the way , on to my books that I'm reading: finally picked up book 3 in the Inheritance which is
Brisingr by Christopher Paolini .I'm loving it, it's holding my attention, can't believe it took this long to pick up, and I'm also reading
Love Me Anyway by J.L. Redington , it's also holding my attention so far but I absolutely hate one of the main characters, can't stand her.hopfully she'll grow on me.
Hey Kevin ,I'm currently reading the series so far I've read books 1-2, 9, and the novella,I'm also this year picking up book 3 and I've the first movie and loved it,its what actually made me want to pick up the books, funny thing is the day the movie came out, my mom, sister and I also went to our local WalMart after the movie and I ended up getting in a box set books 1-4 and by itself book 8.i'm loving the series.
Kevin wrote: "Are there many people who have read the Reacher books and watched the first film?"Yes, I've read the first 9 and watched the Tom Cruise movie. I was expecting Tom Cruise to ruin it because he is so completely different physically from the way Jack Reacher is described but I was pleasantly surprised. Cruise did a really good job and I can see him as Reacher when I read the books. Did you know that Lee Child had a walk on part in the film? He was the desk sergeant.
Kirsten *Dogs Welcome - People Tolerated" wrote: "Sacrilege!"Which? Tom Cruise as Reacher, Lee Child in a walk on, my reading and watching? Just wondering which part you have a problem with Kirsten? :^)
I think it's the fact that Tom Cruise and Reacher have a height difference, however, the movie does stick to the book favourably.
Height difference that is an understatement Tom Cruise is barely 5 foot 7 Jack Reacher is supposed to be six foot five!!
Lee Child is brilliant. I'm glad to see his work on screen. If I had to choose, I'd say I preferred the book because it reveals more of Reacher's psychology...
Kevin wrote: "I think it's the fact that Tom Cruise and Reacher have a height difference, however, the movie does stick to the book favourably."Yeah, the height difference was funny. Reacher is meant to be a giant of a man. I liked the movie. I have read one book in the series.
Rosamund Pike made a name for herself as a thriller heroine in this one. She pretty much landed the role in Gone Girl the movie because of this performance.

Cruise as Reacher!
Not just height difference. Reacher is also a big guy in EVERY way. Plus, he intimidates people when was the last time Cruise intimidated anyone?
Kirsten *Dogs Welcome - People Tolerated" wrote: "Not just height difference. Reacher is also a big guy in EVERY way. Great story on NPR's Morning Edition this morning about the phenomenon of "girl" books. You know, the habit of putting on the cover of a new thriller: "the next Gone Girl" or "the next Girl on the Train".Crime novelist Megan Abbott and Sarah Weinman of the newsletter Publisher's Lunch were the guests.

It's so weird when I remember the Christmases ..."
I know Kristin. My childhood events were also huge. My mother has 1 sister and 3 brothers. My father has a sister and 2 brothers. Lots and lots of cousins whichever event we went to. We usually ended up going to my mother's parents pace for Christmas and my father's parents' later. I loved running around with my cousins because no matter how far away they were living everyone would come home to grandmum's for Christmas. Grandpa would hang up swings from trees for us... The best days ever.
