March - Check up

So we have a full 2 months behind us now and even had that extra little day in February. Has anyone hit a stumbling block of a book that has been a struggle to get through? Somehow by sheer luck, I have read a bunch of really great books this year. I have completed 30 thus far and have been averaging about 4 or 5 books going at once (I think I have adult onset ADD). One thing I haven't done a bunch of is read outside of my comfort zone. 25 of my 30 books have been non-fiction and 3 of the 30 have been classics. Maybe that is why I have been enjoying reading so much this year. I have been trying to read books I would have normally picked up, like 2 books on writing. I also read The Bookseller of Kabul which was really interesting.

What is the best book you have read so far this year?

Well, I suppose I'm a slacker as I have only read 8 (to be more accurate-7, as one was a cookbook). The Last Tsar: The Life and Death of Nicholas II was a bit of a stumble as the first half was, in my opinion, not well written.

Unlike you, I haven't come across any books I really, really liked-- although I did like InnocenceDean Koontz's Innocence.

I want to work in some more classics this year. I am looking forward to reading The Woman in White with the group "Classics for Beginners".

I have The Woman in White in my TBR list. I have read The Moonstone by wilkie collins and it was fantastic. very well written mystery.
