What are you reading in May 2014?

It's got all the YA cliches, complete with crappy love triangles and the romance overshadowing every thing else about the book.
It's terrible, really, and I'm probably going to regret reading it... but, damnit, I have a weakness for hot Mad Hatters... :-/

Other than that, I'm going to try to start Blood Song tonight but I might now - I have phys therapy. :(

The funny thing is I'm not part of any sort of tech team, though I am often the go-to tech person because the people around here seriously don't know how to do, well, anything...
(I literally had to show someone how to make a webpage a favorite the other day.)
So, one day recently our payment system was down and we had to get out a "rush" payment, so of course my one handler was being a spaz...
And she's like "What are we going to do?"
Me: "Wait for it to get fixed... What else can we do? "
Her: "How long is that going to take?"
Me: "As long as it takes... "
I mean, wtf do you want me to do about it?

I get this. I have a few series that are horrible and I know they're horrible, but I loves them anyway.
That convo with your coworker is my daily work day. LOL.

I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.

Speaking of the library, I need them to check on a book for me.
I didn't see it in the catalogue so e-requested it only to be told it was in the catalogue and look again...
Well, I've looked several times so either a) I'm crazy or b) they're wrong (or c) both).

Would you like me to photoshop some hair onto him?

Terrifyingly enough, I found this on google images:

Yes, the sequel just came out this year. To be honest, I'm not really feeling this series the way I feel I should. I really enjoyed her Mistress of Rome- books 1 & 3 because they both have a catty deliciousness about them. I was expecting even more of that with the Borgias, but this is pretty tame. I think because it's told from the perspective of 2 fictional characters and the Pope's mistress. I feel distant from the family.
I recently read Blood & Beauty: The Borgias and that one I highly enjoyed. Not sure if you're familiar with Dunant's writing, but she can make the most mundane sound sick and twisted.

Also added to my large stack of library books today. (has no regrets)

I skipped Eli and read Lockstep instead. Meh. Its not bad, just meh.
Maybe its just me that's meh.

That Seanan books looks interesting, Laurl. Let me know how it is?

Will do, Hon!

Oh, and bring me back something from Scotland! Like, a hot chick. Or a shot glass. Either/or.

But I didn't mention the manga I was reading was also a Wonderland retelling.
And I've just bought part of the spin-off of the manga...
So, apparently, I'm on a Wonderland binge.
This was unplanned.

I am excited for The Crimson Campaign! I am first in line in the library queue, so I hope to have it in my paws soon.

I am halfway through the same book and it is action packed. The second book comes out the 6th. I hope it is as good as this one is!

@Nicki- I agree with Ala. The Lion Wakes cover is very shiny. Doesn't seem to have great reviews overall though. I'll wait to see what you think of it though. Enjoy Scotland! Cute man in kilt for me please! ;)

Depends on what you're into. We all have a slightly different idea of "must read" here, lol.
So, what are you into?

Sweet! If you haven't read Brandon Sanderson, I would say to DEFINITELY read his Mistborn trilogy.
Mistborn: The Final Empire
The Well of Ascension
The Hero of Ages
Then there's The Alloy of Law, which takes place in the same world, but quite a while after the main trilogy, so this should be read last.
I'd also recommend Stephen King's Dark Tower series. It's fantasy, but with many different genre-blends thrown in. The first book (The Gunslinger) is a little slow and dry, but it's short, and if you push through it, the second book is where the series really gets going. Or, if you're not feeling the first book, you CAN skip it and start with book 2 (The Drawing of the Three) and come back to the first book later. The story works both ways.
The Dresden Files, starting with Storm Front.
American Gods by Neil Gaiman
Horns & NOS4A2 by Joe Hill - These are not related stories, but they are both great horror/fantasy.
The Grimnoir Chronicles (Hard Magic, Spellbound, Warbound) by Larry Correia - I really enjoyed these on audio. :)
The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch
There are others that I think would probably be included - but I haven't got to them yet. Sooooooooooonnn...
Welcome to Goodreads and FOF. :)

Well I guess... TECHNICALLY...

Monster Hunter International series by Larry Correia
Iron Druid Chronicles by Kevin Hearne
Codex Alera series by Jim Butcher
Also hoping to somehow fit in:
Sworn in Steel by Douglas Hulick
The Crimson Campaign by Brian McClellan
Wish me luck ;)

For some reason there seems to be a lot of horror, I must at some point had a horror-download-moment... Been picking books just randomly and the last 4 or 5 have been horror. They have been fairly good ones though, so it's not all bad.
I'm thinking I might try to go fantasy on the next one though, I like to mix it up a bit.

For some r..."
I need to do something similar. I have hundreds of free kindle books. But I don't own a kindle. I've been thinking of getting a cheap old kindle so I can read them off my phone.

You can just download the Kindle app on your phone or iPad.
I finished The Martian last night, now starting with Blood Song.

Bought The Martian today, I might read that next actually... (still not fantasy lol)

Don't own an iPad but I have the app on my phone. Its way to small for me to do any serious reading - and I'm not going to do it on my computer.
I might never read most of them - I just checked and kindles are too expensive for a toss away item. :(

I can understand you not wanting to spend the money if you prefer paper books though...

Well, I do prefer paper books but I have a Kobo. I haven't bought into the Kindle Walled Garden and since I've never bought any kindle books (only freebies)...

Blather away. I can't be arsed either. I rejoiced a little when our entire was system down this morning. :) The bad part is that I'm part of the Automation team, so I kept getting asked when are we going to be back up.
