Solved requests are almost as important as unsolved requests (eg, so don't delete your info :D Otherwise it looks like this, which completely doesn't show how you generated *so* much interest for your book.

These instructions will help me figure it out much more easily next time though :D
Just yesterday I re-watched an old X-Files episode called "Bad Blood". This was one of the goofy ones, featuring two differing POV on the parts of Scully and Mulder and a bunch of vampires with that same obsession with counting things. (I always found it foolish that Mulder tried warding off the marauding vamps with a fake cross. Why didn't he just load his pockets with more sunflower seeds before he left and throw that at them?)

I remember the book starting in a museum setting where the girl was looking at art while she was invisible.
The basic plot of the book had something to do with a clan of vampires in the city where the girl lived trying to summon a monster of some kind. The monster was depicted on the front of the book, with huge tentacles sneaking through an open window.
The vampires in this book were obsessed with counting, at one point the heroine escapes from them by tossing a bunch of poppyseed bagels at them and they are forced to count the seeds. This scene may have been on a bridge?
As far as the heroine's backstory goes, I remember thinking that this may have been the second book in a series based on the level of detail that was included about her history. She had been orphaned as a child or something like that, and taken in by some sort of crime lord that lived in the subway system underground. Due to her invisibility abilities she may have been recruited to use them to his purposes.
I also remember mention of another male character with powers of some sort - maybe he could fly? There was a scene near the end of the novel that I vaguely remember involving flying up the side of a tall skyscraper.
The other scene I remember involved a guy, maybe a model? Standing by a lake of some sort and the monster the vampires were trying to summon making an appearance.
I can remember glimpses of this book, but never actually anything that helps in a web search! Please help if you have an idea of what this could be, or even an idea of a similar book that could be in this series.
