Oh Alexandre, thank you for posting this!!! I have been feeling that way for the last month or so...I can't remember when I last wanted to rate a book very high either. I get to the middle of the book and start thinking, "yada yada yada". What do we do?

Yeah, I'm just now trying to change genres...I just finished a cozy mystery - still hit a slow spot midway but that could just be the book ;) and have started a Suzanne Brockmann YA. I've always loved her Troubleshooters and this is a joint project with her daughter so I have great hopes for it! Wish me luck, Pepper!!!

I'm going through the same thing right now! For me, I find that sometimes my writer's block is a way of my mind telling me my book isn't going the right way. Scratching a scene and rewriting helps.

(I have also resumed my running exercises...lol)
I love calling it reader's block! I usually call it a funk or slump. I just got out of one. I took a breather from reading and when that didn't work I just forced my self to read a little bit everyday. Then I feel back into it.
PepperP0t wrote: "how about a change in genre or a re-read of a favorite"I've also heard the change of genre method sometimes does the trick. ☺
I hate when this happens! I usually fall back on a favorite book or series. I have some that I have re-read for over 20 years. :) If that doesn't work, I also try a new genre. Which coincidentally, is how I got hooked on paranormal. I've heard of others who take these times in their lives to try that book they've heard a lot about but never picked up. Good luck! ~Kim

I have been having the same feelings! I finally started one that I'm enjoying after about 5 failures.

broke the slump for me so far.

Do you resume reading the abandoned books? I'm kinda obsessive, so I always go back to those I've abandoned. At least twice. I would say I abandon 10-15% of the books I buy. What about you?

I go back and try them again. some of them were that bad, others were ones I would have hated to miss.

Hello, I'm looking for suggestions. I'm in a PNR mood. I have read a little of everything. Mercy, The Hallows, Sookie, Everything J Frost, Moaning, Ilona Andrews, Chicago land and so much more. I'm now struggling to find anything. So please help!!! Feel free to add me as a friend

After trying to read many books on philosophy and psychiatry I surrendered to

. A very light plot (in the sense that you do not need to reflect much), with lots of action and twists. Nearly finishing it!

I tried all the rest, changing genre's, taking a break, etc... And the only thing that seems to work for me is to just go and read something that i have already read that i know that i loved. Usually it is sometimes even 4-5 books that i re-read before i can pick up something new and read it straight through.
I have reader's block a few times a year. That's when I mostly re-read my favorites to get me back in pages. It is a very rare occasion when I can't finish a book. However, there are just some books I can't finish.

Yesssssssssssssss I've been looking for something to describe this feeling! It usually happens when I go on a freebie spree and realize that, ehhh, I probably just got them because they were free, not because I'd actually like them. I do feel pretty guilty when I don't finish a book though, so I try to power through as best I can. Or, at the very least, don't immediate delete them off my Kindle. Maybe I'll like it better at another time.
Love this thread! I'm kind of new to reader's block, but I try changing genres and going back to old favorites. I download a lot of samples as possible purchases, and when I am in this mood, I really clear a lot of them out! Lol.

you know something else that works well for me when I have reader's block is anthologies. You've got different stories, writers and characters ... by the time ennui gets ready to set in you're into the next story.those are my three tricks one of them usually work. let us know if it works for you. (change genre, re-read a favorite or this)
I never thought of it as reader's block - good term! I'm a picky reader and a writer's voice has to really grab me. Their writing can be great, their story great, but for me it's the voice. Buuut...I can't not know how it ended so I have to page through to get the gist of it.I don't switch genres well (gotta have the romance) so I catch up on my magazine pile until one of my fave authors has a new release.
Good luck busting out of the rut!

 starts the Elder races series,

 begins the Ghostwalker series &

and the London Steampunk series.I get readers block too! Usually a change in genre or a favorite author will get me out of my funk.
