Yesterday I started reading Craven by Melanie Casey. It's a bit unusual for me to read 2 books by the same author in such a short space of time, but Hindsight was sooo good, I was compelled to find out what happens next. Loving it - and ripping through it - so far.
I'm almost through
by Paul Kalanithi, a true account of when a neurosurgeon becomes a patient with terminal cancer. A thought-provoking read, but sorry not Australian.
Bit of a reading coincidence. One of the ladies I work with was downloading some pics to use as her background on her computer & she chose a group of nice snowy/wintery scenes. One was a lovely snow covered city scene that we both thought was beautiful & wondered where it was. Looked it up & it was a city called Plovdiv (never heard of it) in Bulgaria. Come lunch time & I am listening to my current audio read Fear in the Cotswolds & the main character meets a young girl that is originally from Plovdiv in Bulgaria :)
got a bit of a marsh thing going: my last read was The Marsh King's Daughter and now I am reading Marsh and Me, LOL
I've been waiting for Beartown by Fredrik Backman to come to my local library. According to the alert I received this morning, it is being released in Australia under the title of The Scandal.

My library has just notified me that they have Beartown ready for me. They must have purchased a copy published overseas.

I thought I'd just check on Overdrive if the Brisbane Library has it as Beartown or The Scandal. No hits for Beartown. Many hits for the scandal it almost looks like porn. I didn't check through all 5 pages to see if any of them were by Fredrik Backman! It's a great book, I listened to it on Audible a while back. Highly recommended anything by this author.
currently reading The Starlings by Vivienne Kelly and it is another Aussie book. We have so many talented authors.

Dale wrote: "currently reading The Starlings by Vivienne Kelly and it is another Aussie book. We have so many talented authors."That's a wonderful read, Dale
Reading Already Dead by Jaye Ford... see, now this is why I always always always drive around with my doors locked (thankyou, central locking), even on the shortest trips. I heard somewhere that it strengthens the body of the car if you are in a crash too...
I just started the memoir Orange Is the New Black: My Year in a Women's Prison I haven't watched the series preferring to always start with the source material. After reading this I'll decide if I binge watch.

So do I - moreso after reading this book!!!

I remember having to get one of my local libraries to purchase The Rosie Project! Luckily I found a neighbouring council library that is a little more proactive.
I am really liking this one from work Save-My-Life School: A first responder's mental health journey
. I keep requesting the new ones, and this one is good, but really should be for the paramedicine students. I'm trying to read it quickly to get it to those who it was intended for. Love to find these ones that I would have never seen otherwise. Based on blog entries so very easy to read.
Marianne wrote: "Reading Already Dead by Jaye Ford... see, now this is why I always always always drive around with my doors locked (thankyou, central locking), even on the shortest..."You've reminded me to get to this one, Marianne. I love what I've read of hers so far. She's a local author to Brenda, isn't she?!
I'm just starting From the Outer: Footy Like You've Never Heard It Want to get this read for the Winter Challenge and to send to my sister in the US.
Getting back to The Three Miss Allens by Victoria Purman after finishing all my library books. This one is for the Winter Challenge. :) Still listening to Katie Mulholland by Catherine Cookson on the Borrow Box app via my local library. Almost half way through this epic saga!
I've suspended reading The Son by Jo Nesbø for a while. It seems long and rather visceral, and I've lost track of the hero's motivation. For some light relief, I turned to The Visitor by Lee Child. Serendipitously, it's an immediate follow-on from Tripwire, which I've just finished. I'm on holiday, and happened to have both books in my bag without knowing the sequence.
I frequently stop and start books too Sarah. Usually it's because I've gone a little overboard when visiting the library and need to get going on those books rather than my own collection. :) And how awesome was that, you getting two books in a series in concurrent sequence without consciously checking! Bonus! :)
I'm glad you say that, Sarah. It's very unusual for me to find a book that I struggle with but I came across one this month that I just haven't been interested enough to continue right now. I'm on vacation and I've got soo many books that I know I'll love so I set it aside for now. The only problem with that is it's part of my choices for a challenge to be finished by the end of this month! I've read 50% of it but it took me forever to get that far! So now I'm behind on the others I have to to finish, too! It didn't help that we had company we don't usually have and, if I'm honest, I'm not fond of them either, so that cut into my reading time as well which makes me a little grumpy. I may end up choosing something else but then I'd have to read the entire thing verses the last 50%! They're leaving tomorrow fortunately but I'm going to have to read very fast for the next week! Grrr! Oh well. Challenges are just for funzies, but still! =o)
Kylie wrote: "...how awesome was that, you getting two books in a series in concurrent sequence without consciously checking! Bonus!"Hallo Kylie, Bonus indeed! I've often said that it doesn't matter much if I read such books out of sequence. But now I notice how much pleasure I get from following the extended story.

I'm enjoying the new book by Michael Robotham, The Secrets She Keeps. It starts off a bit like a Liane Moriarty, with two pregnant women going about their lives and looking forward to having their babies and I thought what is going on here? but it soon becomes something a little darker :)

Ooh... sounds most intriguing and a good read Carolyn. :)
I started Apple Tree Yard last night. I couldn't wait to get home from work today to get back to it. A friend once told me she took a day off work to read. Mm.. so tempting!

Apparently if she had a great book she would read all day but spray Mr Sheen around and the family would come home and say how tidy the house was!

Just started reading Stars Across the Ocean by Kimberley Freeman. I have been looking forward to this one as I have enjoyed her other books.
Finished Apple Tree Yard was a great book but I was a bit disappointed with the ending. Starting Every Move today. It's the final in a trilogy by Aussie YA author Ellie Marney
Oh how I wish it was July... I can't wait to get stuck into The Shifting Fog by Kate Morton! For the time being though I have started listening to Bittersweet by Colleen McCullough (Borrow Box).
Just finished The Crying Place and was going to start The Little Friend but I decided I needed something a bit more light and fun in between so I started Jinx
Currently reading The Job by Janet Evanovich & Lee Goldberg, one of many books borrowed from the library. :)
