Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9974 comments I still have a review to write, but I am finding it hard to resist my current read The Chemist which has me biting my nails, laughing out loud, doing the "can't look at the screen'" type of thing, and even has a bit of romance.
Was hoping for a sequel to The Host from Stephenie Meyer but this is excellent consolation...

Film yes, book no:(
Aaron Cross is in the Bourne Legacy movie but I don't think that is his name in the books.

Elias Zanbaka | 862 comments They were planning a crossover film that features both Bourne and Aaron Cross but I don't think that's happening anymore.

message 1006: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9974 comments Thanks Phrynne, I knew you would know.
dedication at the start of The Chemist is to Jason Bourne/Aaron Cross, and I knew who Jason Bourne was, seen a few of the movies and, from the start of the book it's easy to see why the dedication, but had no clue about Aaron Cross.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9974 comments I'm reading Invisible, but I think I'm a bit over psychotic serial killers.....

I started to wonder if there are a lot more serial killers in fiction than in real life.

Kathryn | 3569 comments Marianne wrote: "I started to wonder if there are a lot more serial killers in fiction than in real life."

I'm not sure how you would count how many serial killers there are in fiction compared with people who aren't serial killers (that would be an awful lot of work, and frankly, who could be bothered? I'd rather just read without all that effort of counting!), but I would like to hope that the serial killers in real life are well and truly in the minority compared with those of us who aren't serial killers in real life! Or is that being naïve...?

Deb Omnivorous Reader | 1929 comments Just finished On the Beach by Nevil Shute by Nevil Shute

Set in Australia, the forerunner of the dystopian/sci-fi general class of story was written by a naturalised Brit. When I first read it I feel I wanted to like it more than I did, but that was years ago, this time I loved it. There is a review...

Here's the author - Jaymin Eve - there are several books in the series Sami? Good you're enjoying them :)

message 1014: by Sami (new)

Sami there are currently 3 in the series and a side story, I am absolutely loving them! :)

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) Yesterday, I made the mistake of picking up Maestra by L.S. Hilton; a load of junk which included what seems to be the obligatory bit of lesbian sex within first twenty-five pages.

Did you end up finishing it, Bette? I just had a quick look at the reviews, and they're very mixed. The premise seems good, but apparently the rest of the book isn't, according to the majority.

message 1017: by B the BookAddict (new)

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) Leonie, no, I did not finish it, although to be fair, I did not give it a really good go. I'm no prude and graphic sex doesn't bother me but it seems to me that lesbian sex/gay sex has been overdone in novels since the LGBT issues. I see that our Michael read and rated it as a 4 star book. Maybe I'll try it again one day, reading the book that is, not lesbian sex. lol:)

If you haven't seen the movie yet then do. It is fairly true to the book and VERY emotional. I watched it on a plane which was quite embarrassing as I cried - a lot!

Ryan Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. I'm not far in and there's already plenty of 80s nostalgia.

Deb Omnivorous Reader | 1929 comments Still going on one from a previous challenge ; Voyage of the Turtle In Pursuit of the Earth's Last Dinosaur by Carl Safina by Carl Safina

It is a fascinating, well researched, informative well written book. Because there is so much in it it is not a fast read for me. Because the plight of the oceans in general and marine turtles in particular is so dire I am progressing slowly.

Here's a helpful hint - listen to a book while knitting - then you can do two things at once - LOL!

Mind you, having said that - I am learning as well - and it is a case of me counting out loud how many stitches I have done, and what the pattern says - drives hubby mad :)

Ryan Me too Phrynne. I struggle to concentrate on an audiobook while walking to work in the morning. I would have no chance doing anything involving fine motor skills.

Yea, I see how that might be a problem, Sally!

I haven't been getting very far in my audio books lately since I haven't been driving much. I have, however, tried to listen at night before bed. Good thing Audible has a SLEEP TIMER! I haven't made it past the first 15" !
