I am hanging out for this one - loved both of her previous books

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9974 comments better than the Chocolate one, IMHO, Sally

Suz | 4426 comments After You is great so far! So glad I picked this one off my shelf tonight.

message 54: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9974 comments another of those weird coincidences: the phrase "wolf in shepherd's clothing" (not wolf in sheep's clothing) appears in my last read The Beekeeper's Secret and my current one Straight Jacket

and as for subject matter and style, they couldn't be much further apart....

message 55: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn | 9836 comments I'm reading the Aussie Crime Group's book for this month A Plot to Die For by C.A. Larmer. It's a good quick cosy crime. A bit Agatha Christie with an Aussie flavour.

Veronica ⭐️ | 2384 comments I've just started Indigo Storm by Fleur McDonald

I'm already feeling apprehensive and afraid for Ashleigh.

I do like this cover Indigo Storm by Fleur McDonald better than this cover Indigo Storm by Fleur McDonald

Have to agree Veronica. The blue is a much better cover.

That's funny - I love the autumn shaded cover better! I've always loved those colours, so I'm probably biased! A fantastic book though, whatever the cover!

message 59: by Veronica ⭐️ (new)

Veronica ⭐️ | 2384 comments That's probably the thing Brenda. I love blue and any book with a blue cover attracts my attention.

Addie Matched (Matched, #1) by Ally Condie I'm about 7 chapters in and loving it more each chapter :)

James (kihadu) | 19 comments Finally getting to Killing Floor by Lee Child - gave it to my dad for Christmas. Not my usual genre, and finding the writing style a bit tiresome, but I am enjoying it :)

It's a genre I used to read a lot of, before I got into fantasy/scifi, and I really liked it. Lee Child is giving me a good read, but all his sentences are so short! Did he skip school the day they learned about conjunctions? :P

message 66: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Brenda | 79969 comments Mod
LOL! I guess I've become used to his style of writing - it doesn't bother me and I don't even notice it; too busy devouring the story!

Dale Harcombe | 6865 comments Currently reading Go Set a Watchman
Have been putting it off for a while since I brought it home from the library. But on my way now.

I've noticed a few authors writing in this style lately. Some can pull it off others can't. In Petrocelli, John Rachel does the short powerful sentences to great effect.

message 70: by B the BookAddict (new)

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) I've started Notes from an Exhibition the best selling novel by the eloquent Patrick Gale. Why is it that gay men write so beautifully? I fell in love with the first paragraph and have enjoyed every word since. I've already marked a few of his other books to read.

message 71: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9974 comments I loved A Place Called Winter and that sent me looking for more by Patrick Gale. I have managed to pick up quite a few....

message 72: by B the BookAddict (new)

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) I have that one on my tbr, Marianne. From your comments and other comments in other groups, I see I am not alone in my liking of Gale's work. A new author for me to explore and enjoy:)

This is my first one Marianne so that's good to hear, I'm really getting into it...albeit slowly because of other pressing committments...but I think I will be reading more of his.
Does he keep the same characters or are they all stand alone's?

message 79: by Marianne (new)
