Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman
and
The Nightingale Girls by Donna Douglas
(still spending up with my book voucher)
I haven't read any Alice Hoffman before but have her upcoming release from NetGalley to read - The Rules of Magic Not published until 10th Oct. It sounds really good.

That's why I decided to read the first one - I know the new one is a prequel but just wanted to refresh

Books in purchased at the op shop this morning.
One Year in Coal Harbor
Chairman Mao Would Not Be Amused: Fiction from Today's China - Chinese short stories for my global reading
The Only Street in Paris: Life on the Rue Des Martyrs
The Good Good Pig: The Extraordinary Life of Christopher Hogwood
The Happy Life recipe book
Super-Cute Felt: 35 step-by-step projects to make and give craft
I received from Penguin Random House UK today (and it took a very long time to arrive!) a lovely hardcover copy of
Before the Rains by Dinah Jefferies

That looks nice Brenda! Sounds good too :)

I loved it when I read it back in February from NG - the publisher sent the hardcopy as a thank you :)

Ooh, I love The Nightingale series Sally! You're in for a treat, and I hope you enjoy The Nightingale Girls as much as I did. In fact, I'm actually three quarters of the way through A Nightingale Christmas Wish, number 5 in the series. :)

Thanks, I had that one in my Audible wishlist for close to three years... I'm never going to dwindle that down!

Great work Marianne! And how lovely of you to get some for Veronica too??? :)

I'd love to see it. Now just have to find a spare couple of hours.
For those of you on NetGalley, Aussie author Emma Viskic's second (due to be published 1/8/17) And Fire Came Down is on Read Now :) I finished it today and it's a sizzling 5 star read for me :)

Thanks Brenda, snapped that one up

Wasn't it though! I'm really looking forward to this series. I got the prequel Black & Blue last year for Christmas. And Oh Boy! Fifty Fifty due out 27, July, 2017! This one is not a bad price from the BOOK DEPOSITORY. Since I have a gift card I got from my Mom for my Birthday, just before she passed, I think I'll use it. I also got two extremely nice necklaces, one is a Sterling silver chain with a S. silver feather I found at a little gift/mercantile shop in Centennial, Wyoming. It's just by our cabin and we've known the owners for many years so I always buy something every summer when I'm there. I got an adorable shirt with a moose on it there, too. Moose are one of my favorite animals. The other is a necklace with a real sand dollar (it's only the size of a half dollar. So cute!) and a silver starfish charm on it. I've been looking for one for decades and finally found one that is hand made by a lady who collects them right on the beach in Florida. I'll cherish them forever. =o)
Sorry, I digressed but I wanted to share it with my friends. =o)
Long story short... Brenda always keep me up on current events like the book Fifty Fifty! I didn't see it posted in up and coming new Aussie author releases? May have missed it though. I refuse to use James Patterson as the author for this one! It's Candice Fox for me! =o)

And I did order Fifty Fifty by Candice Fox

Well I learnt something from you Owl....I never really look at the James Patterson books (too many to read) BUT I loved Never Never so would have totally missed it except that your mentioned Candice Fox. So thank you!

That's right Marianne and I have every faith that you will find them ;)

the book whisperer will prevail!!!

Will have to go and check that out Brenda!
Although I don't need any more NG books as I've rather overdone it with the number needing review this month. Also I've just downloaded another Read Now from NG, Daring to Drive: A Saudi Woman’s Awakening an autobiography by Manal al-Sharif, a Saudi woman who forged the way for women in being allowed to drive in Saudi. It sounds really interesting.

I hope you enjoy it CD. I have the first three in a box set. They look good sitting on my shelf but not sure when I'll get to read them :)

The author was interviewed on ABC News Breakfast yesterday Carolyn - very interesting and articulate. Hopefully that translates well into the book.

Is the first in a YA post-apocalypse trilogy and I read the 1st chapter and looks right up my alley.

Speaking of.... I got my copy of This House of Grief: The Story of a Murder Trial by Helen Garner in the post today!
