my GR win from Fiona Palmer, The Family Secret arrived in the mail today. Now I have my book from the other Fiona, Fiona Higgins, Fearless still to come
It's been getting great reviews so far. Just from reading the premise, it sounds like my kind of book.
I took advantage of the Brotherhood Books 20% off sale because they had a Peter Corris Cliff Hardy book that I don't yet have, and a two other books I'd like to read, so I got my free shipping....
i picked up a hardcover copy of The Red Queen at Vinnies. I dont usually buy harcover as they are always tatty but this looks like it hasn't even been read. And it has a ribbon bookmark, love it!
Because, unlike some very lucky people here, I didn't get sent it by the publisher, I detoured a bit on the way home from Mum's to visit Big W and buy Small Great Things for $16, which is a lot more than I usually pay for books, as you all know. This says something about my respect for the author.... also, I need to have a copy to get it signed at the literary lunch next month, don't I!!

Will have to wait till I get near a Big W,

Fearless will be my next read (I think) after the one I'm reading now - The Chocolate Tin which I'm loving!
I finally gave in after I was informed at QBD that Kitty by Deborah Challinor was out of print; they could order the second for $20....
Angus and Robertson Bookworld had all three for just over $16 each.
Today I received in the mail - Kitty
, Amber
and Band of Gold
by Deborah Challinor all republished in 2015 with these lovely covers :)
Happy now!

It does pay to look around on the web. I've ordered a book that was over $140 on a few book sites and only $12.99 at QBD. It's for my son and we were a bit mystified at the price - maybe we are only getting the cover. Can't remember the title, I'll post it here when it arrives.
I know. I think it may be out of print so asking big money for copies they have. He's been looking for months now and wasn't paying those prices.

I went to Dapto, which is just down the road from Mum's, where I was going anyway. But you'd have to save up a list of things you need to not cancel out the $7 saving on the price of the book in cost of your petrol , wouldn't you?

Actually Marianne, I just received an email yesterday afternoon saying I am getting a copy to review from Allen and Unwin. How happy am I ? Thrilled to bits.
On my doorstep when I got back from WA last night, Where Serpents Sleep and What Remains of Heaven, the next two books in the marvellous St Cyr series that I've been enjoying, as well as Commonwealth by Ann Patchett. Netgalley have also just approved me for Difficult Women by Roxane Gay and The Radium Girls by Kate Moore :)
I was at Big W and I thought I'd give a book called The Four Legendary Kingdoms by some author named Matthew Reilly a chance. Should be good! I'm always looking for new authors to follow ;)

I just want to gather them all up and read them all at once!!!!!!!

Well a week anyway:)
Well a week anyway:)
My Brotherhood books order turned up this morning:Lugarno $3.60 and one of the few Cliff Hardy books I don't have (usually some horrendous price online so this was excellent value!)
The Case of the Deadly Butter Chicken $5.20
Northanger Abbey $5.60
You are doing well! You'd better stop sleeping altogether so you can get all your reading done Marianne ;)
I've just picked up
Barbed Wire and Cherry Blossoms by Anita Heiss from the Post Office along with my two pride and joys:The illustrated versions of
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets! They were a splurge - but were on sale at 30% off at Booktopia so I stroked my wimpering credit card and used it!!!!!
I picked up Cross Justice by James Patterson thinking that it was the latest Alex Cross thriller - Cross the Line that will be coming out next month.
The fact that I haven't kept me from returning it! It was funny because in my mind I was like, "Oh, yeah! Now I get find out what happened after Cross Kill!" until I realised that I wouldn't get to find out what happened after Cross Kill for another month.
