We have a second hand book shop across the road from where we are staying, and I just happened to go over there a little while ago ;)

I purchased the last three of my unowned Michael Connelly books (hubby is reading them now!) and actually found one I hadn't read :)

Nine Dragons, The Fifth Witness and The Lincoln Lawyer (unread)

Plus The Chessmen by Peter May jumped off the shelf at me!

No "In Death" books, no Deborah Challinor and Code Name Verity wasn't there either!

But I'm happy with them :)

I wish there were more second hand book shops near where I live, it'd be cool to see something on the shelf that you've wanted for a while. I got a few Alistair MacLean titles once at a garage sale and they were going for around $2 each.

There's another bookshop down the road and it sells brand new books for no more than $7! Quite a few fairly new release books there but I didn't get anything :)

I also really like it when many of the older books have been taken care of. My copy of Ice Station Zebra that I picked up from the garage sale still has the original 85p price sticker at the back. I usually take off all the price tags from books I've bought but decided to keep that one on there.

The copy I have is probably one of many which had printing errors as well. There's a part where the pages go 49, 51, 50, 52, 53...so you have to skip to page 50 before going back to 51 and then continuing on to 52.

It could've been intentional though, probably some literary "page-swap" technique used to put me in the shoes of the characters and make me feel their confusion in that scene ;)

I was a big MacLean fan in my teens. The only books I had to read were my parents hand me downs so read lots of MacLean, Michener and Wilbur Smith.

From our Brisbane meet-up today, I brought home The Outback: anthology of short stories for my mystery book swap and Autumn Manor by Helen Goltz - thanks to Helen for her generous gift! I'd been checking this one out on GR the other day!

I remember reading Barbed Wire And Roses years ago and loving it. It must have made an impression because I remember reading it on a camping trip along the Murray. (In the years before ereaders, where I'd take three books for a long weekend camping trip!)
