Week #6

Rating: 4 stars
Review:
During the last few days I read Love is a Stranger and Conscious Decisions of the Heart and now my head is still spinning from all the things that happened.
There was a lot of action and suspense in these two books. Much of it over the top. Seriously, a lot of the plot was so unrealistic, that I normally would put it aside with rolling eyes (view spoiler) .
But then there was also this miraculous love story between Nik and Ben. Two men with extremely difficult pasts which made them very complex characters. I loved them and I hated them. Their relationship was intense and the power dynamics between both men captivated me.
All this was wrapped up in a nice dose of humor and not to forget their very special and fearless dog Radulf.
I'll definitely read book 3.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Absolutely, you just have to love these two! :)

I like the premise of this Writing Girls series, a group of four women who write for the London Weekly newspaper and are minor celebrities in London. I adored Sophie's character and was glad to see her get her HEA after being jilted. Maya Rodale is a new to me author and I will definitely be reading more of her books. Lord Roxbury and Julianne were also fun characters and I look forward to their story in the next book.

Review : It is an enchanting classic and the fictional town of Malgudi comes in front of us in the 32 short stories. The stories are humorous and characters are well developed. I enjoyed reading it.

This series just gets better and better. While I want to smack Roan around a bit, I can't help but root for him. Things got pretty heated between him and Dylan. I liked that Dylan showed a bit of backbone when it comes to Roan. I get being understanding, but the guy was turning into a doormat. I do love Dylan, though. What's not to love? He's so sweet, but can be baddass when he gets all protective. The suspense in these books keeps me on the edge. Roan's virus continues to progress and he's becoming a real life superhero.

I have been sporadic in reading this series, but I really enjoy it and the Elder Races world that Thea Harrison has created. I was not crazy about Aryal before this book but I liked how her relationship with Quentin progressed. I also loved that Pia, Dragos and baby Liam made appearances in this book. And the ending with Pia and Aryal was too funny. I will definitely continue with this series.

Review:
Really enjoyed this for the most part. I LOVED George. I loved all the bickering aka flirting between he and Billie. I loved seeing the birth of the Mallet Of Death. I really just loved being back in the Bridgerton world. The issue I had, is that a lot of the time I found Billie really childish and selfish. And I kept reading hoping that eventually she'd grow up a little bit in her thought process, and she does kind of, but mostly she doesn't. It was frustrating to see the distance between where I was and the end getting smaller and smaller and nothing changing. I would've liked to see SOMETHING happen to inspire her to mature a little. Still though, there were moments that I really did like her, so she wasn't all bad. And like I said the romance between them was great, I totally believed it. I can't wait to read more in the series!

How fun!! My hubby doesn't read either.

Week 7: Enemies to Lovers ~ Option 2: His Fateful Heap of Days

The suspense was a little far-fetched (#notshocked), but Nik & Ben are so good together that I just can't be bothered to care. (#stillnotshocked)
I was glad to see their relationship be on solid ground and stay there. The last few books had caused them to be apart too much. This far into the series I think they should be past that by now. They were actually a little on the mushy side. Out loud and everything! It gave all the feels. Needless to say, I'm still in for the long haul with Nik & Ben.

Do you get condescending looks and comments about 'doing something' too?! Hello, I am doing something - READING! Thank goodness for audiobooks, they keep the glares down because I'm not 'just sitting'. Though, when he talks to me about once every three minutes all day long - just far apart enough to think he's done and I can start listening again, I seriously consider strangling him! I love the guy, but he can be pretty clueless sometimes.

I found this quite enjoyable. I was warned about a timing issue that was still bad enough to bug me, but I think knowing it was coming helped me. But really, how it wasn't caught is beyond me! I was also warned it leaned to the annoying side, but I think I was prepared for worse so this didn't bother me at all. This series is funny and doesn't take itself, or anything, seriously. I plan to continue the series, especially in audio! I do enjoy the audios and the narrator - I think she adds to the experience and makes it more enjoyable.

Week #7

Review:
Great Romance!
FBI agent Miller Sutton had lived his life always in clear lines, following rules.
He was good in his job, always working by the book, allowing no emotions. And he had a long term fiancée, because that's the way of life expected of him.
"Everything set out in neat little boxes, all black and white, exactly how he liked it.
Good and evil, right and wrong, innocent and guilty.
Stay in the right box and it would all work out in the end."
But he was struggling, he was tired of pretending, he had no longer the strength to keep everything in the right boxes.
And then he came face to face with Danny Butler. Danny Butler was a drug runner, a criminal, fighting with his own demons.
The two were forced to stay close together, because Danny had agreed to testify against his boss, the big drug lord Hinestroza, and it was Miller's duty to protect Danny until the trial could begin.
So they shared an apartment and gradually more and more lines were blurred and Miller discovered all sorts of shades of gray.
Ultimately they both had to face a lot of things about their lives and had to decide which way to go.
"You have to decide the man you want to be from here on out."
And they decided, and they sacrificed, and they worked hard on themselves for their future.
They deserved their HEA!
Yes, not everything on the story line was convincing (how quickly Danny was persuaded to become a snitch, or how easily he could meet with his friend Griff while under FBI protection) but this couldn't keep me from enjoying this great romance.

This was one of my first M/M reads. I haven't read it in years. Maybe a reread is in order!

Same here! I wonder if I would still like it as much as when everything was new.

Review : The daughter-in-law shows the mother-in-law courage when she walks away from the son who follows in his fathers footsteps of cheating. It was a OK read. It was written in both their points of view. Though it was nice to read how the ex-husbands want their wives back, the book fell flat.

I put off reading this final book in the Divergent trilogy for some time because my sister told me how it ended. I have enjoyed the movies so I wanted to finish the series anyway with the final movie released recently. And it also worked for a few challenges this month. :-) I really liked the ending with Four riding on the zip line again. I wish there was a HEA but it was a good wrap up to the series.

Rating (1-5) : 3 stars
Review : This is my first book by Tracy Ewens and though this is a third book in the series, it can be read as a standalone. It was a second chance romance and a slow paced one. The beginning of the book was good, but it dragged in the middle. The talk of food was good and there were some funny instances.

Week #8

Review: I'm sorry to say it but this book was at best a three star read for me.
I like hockey, so this wasn't the problem. I loved Jared and how his relationship with Lane helped him to find back to himself and to find his love for hockey again.
But Lane, the socially awkward rookie, just didn't work for me. While a lot of readers described him as cute and funny, I found him most of the time as weird, annoying and even for a twenty years old immature and unworldly. Therefore I could understand neither Jared's interest in him, nor the developments within the team (view spoiler) .
And then a lot of the story with his best friend Zoe (who was a great secondary character) was unnecessary and annoying (view spoiler) .
Maybe I just wasn't in the right mood for a character like Lane and should give it someday a second try?["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Week 8: Read a book with a one word title ~ Option 2: Visions in Death

Another great addition to the series. I don't know how JD Robb manages to make me cry 19 books in, but I still get very emotional about these characters. The mystery was really good and had a surprise ending.

Rating: ★★★
Review: This was okay. I like the characters, and I mostly like their interactions, though I think I would've liked a little more depth between them. The start was there, but I would've like more development. The mystery/action stuff was a bit confusing and lackluster for me. It wasn't bad really, I just didn't connect that much. I think I would've liked to have read the connected book, about Casey and her husband first. But I am still interested in continuing the series.

Another enjoyable installment in the series! I'm not sure what more to say - I love the characters and the narration. It wasn't my favorite so far, I thought it was going to have more emotional impact. It didn't though and that was more than ok - even if I like the ones that do more.
